I just wanted to see if these types of text scams are common, and if anyone else has been targeted recently. I have had two experiences with theses this week. Here is just a short overview of each so you can get the gist of them.
#1 Received a text to give a quote for a large house wash and driveway cleaning. He gave me a address that was still for sale,(and total gutted on inside) and gave me some BS about having to have a written authority from the previous owner so i could have access to the property. He wanted to send me the total for the job and $3000 to give to this previous owner. As that time it was ez to determine this was a scam. They would not answer the phone, so just sent them text that my company could could not be a part of this type of transaction and never heard back form them...and they played the i have cancer card and said they were out of town...pretty low
#2 This text came in for a house wash and pushed for me to take their credit card up front and charge what ever the job was going to cost before i even told them a price(red flag 1). He did give me a address that did not exist that he said was in a neighborhood that is right down the road form my house (red flag 2) this one was also out of town and wanted the job done before he got back. Then just told them they should find a different contractor...tried to keep it professional and not tell them what i really wanted to.( no answer when i tried to call)
But me being new to the service industry I don't have enough time to tell if these are a rear deal, or if they occur quite often. Dose anyone know where and if you can report the phone # to warn other contractors so they do not fall victim to this PooDoo?...I'm sure they are prepaid phones, but they could be as dumb as there scams!
