I get a drip out of the bypass when using my ball valve to rinse with 200 feet of hose. If I use my surface cleaner with two 3.5 and two #3 tips I lose pressure and flow. A #13 tip is what I set my unloader with. With 10 feet of hose and a #13 tip I get full pressure and full flow. If I add 200 feet of hose, hose friction causes back pressure, which triggers the unloader and I bypass .6 gallons and I lose 900 psi. I have now changed to 4 #3 tips to compensate for the loss of flow ( which reduces pressure), and it seems to help. I mainly use a 10 gpm machine for the rinsing power, and using a ball valve I get 10 gpm's for rinsing no problem. You can run 10gpm thru 3/8 but you are going to get pressure loss, you will still get the flow as long as you use the correct tip size
The 690 used to say 24hp, until some govt regulation forced them to change by using their formula. I have a gx 690 an a gx 630. I have never run 8 gpm so I wouldn't know. But I am never going backwards! I went from a 5.5 to a 10 and it was ridiculous. I am in the process of building a flatbed. It is going to have two 8's tied together. 1/2" hose is in order. I have started buying parts and have a half inch hose coming soMI can get used to it. With a gx690 I get 2850 psi @ 10 gpm. My unloader stalled out at 2850(at the pump), which according to the charts require a 25.5 hp engine. Don't know what to tell you but that's what a gx690 puts out.Hey Ralph,..what engine (HP) are you running with your 10 GPM machine?
Considering sticking with 3/8" hose,..is going from 8 to 10 noticeable enough to really tell,..or is it pretty close? I am determing what I want to do,.I am currently running 8 GPM and find it as SOOOO much better than what I was using before,.but that was a big jump in flow,.just wonder what 8 to 10 was like. I love the flow,.and any extra I can get would be welcome,...just not sure if it's worth the extra cost of another engine and and pump.
I'm running a 20 HP Honda for the 8,.which is the minimum I think to be pushing 8 GPM,..but when I put it together I was going off the models I se for sale,...no big deal it works awesome,..but going to 10 I think I would need a bigger engine like the GX690 to get acceptable performance.
*From the Honda site: The GX630 shows 20.8 HP and the GX 690 shows 22.1 HP,..Only a 1.3 HP difference?
So I'm either missing something or Honda's GX 690( which is I think their biggest engine for this category?) is under powered for 10 GPM. Which requires 27 HP,..is that right?
Jeff
Yes I use 2.1(3-5 gpm) orifice for plenty of soap, with 300 feet of hose. Orange spring unloader can take lots of bypassing, because using this injector brings the flow down to about 7 gpm. Thanks Ralph,..that is about the same PSI I get with my 8 GPM with the GX630,..which has been plenty sufficient. So the 10 GPM would be about the same PSI but with more flow.
Do you DS Ralph?
Thanks,
Jeff
