It is that time of year again to be planning Roundtable Meetings. I am going to post for everyone, including the newer folks who don't know about these meetings. Roundtable Meetings are informational meetings held in different parts of the Country on the third Saturday in Febraury and October. They have really taken on a life of their own and become very successful. In some areas folks have taken them a step further and had them even more often. It has been great to hear from other contractors and folks who share their stories with me. The theme of the meetings is to get contractors together all over the country and dicuss the industry at basically the cost of a lunch. Topics range from types of washing(wood, fleets, exhausts, etc.), equipment, marketing, business basics, rigs and set-ups, and much more.
The last rounds in February were very successful. Everyone seemed to have great turnouts and a lot of great information shared. All you need is a someone to host the meeting and a place to have the meeting. Some areas had them in their shops or conference rooms. In my area we have had them in a restaurant that gave us the area for FREE just to be able to have the business. So, for the cost of the lunch we have had great meetings and formed many great relationships with other contractors. I believe this round and our meeting in Medford, NJ will be the best one(s) yet. I have invited a representative from the NJDEP to attend and hope that this works out for all scheduling. I encourage others to invite guests to speak or give demonstrations. The idea is to keep them educational(primary) and not so much promotional(secondary), this will happen anyway if speakers and demonsrators are professional. Perhaps they will also help split the cost of the lunch!
Anyone who would like more information on these meetings please contact me by e-mail or phone. I would be glad to help you get the meetings organized and running smoothly. We have invitations and scripts you could use to get a great turnout. As well the internet and BB's are a great tool.
We should also try to keep all information in the same thread so that everyone will know where to look for information on the meetings. So, with all that stated let's start posting on who is going to be hosts and where we are going to have meetings. Also, let's post on topics that we should discuss at these meetings and try to keep some of the themes the same so when the meetings are over we can all compare notes and ideas from different parts of the country. I know each meeting will be different but, I for one would like to know how others are handling environmental issues in other parts of the country.
The first location will be at the following:
Indian Chief Restaurant
Rt. 70
Medford , NJ 08088
Host: Everett Abrams
Phone: 1-866-440-3325
E-mail: eabrams@deckrestorationplus.com
Date: Saturday , October 18, 2003
Time: 12:00 Noon- til (We can stay until at least 5:00 pm)
I know Steve Rowlett, Mike Hinderliter, Beth Borrego, Greg Rentschler, and many others have held these meetings before and their help in the past has been great, thank you. However, it would be great to see more meetings and different hosts step up and help also. While all these folks are great leaders who have helped in the past, and hopefully will again, it shouldn't be left to the same folks all the time. Lets try and get more meetings, more folks involved, and even co-hosts. No one says it has to be just one host. Further, it doesn't matter what organizations you belong to, what your experience level is, or any other obstacle. These meetings are for everyone and are meant to help keep the industry moving forward, period.
Now, who is going to host?
Who is coming to the Medford meeting?
Who has questions on what to do?
E-mail to me the folks coming to Medford and as the list grows I'll post the list.

Thank you to all involved in the past as well as those who help in the future. I find these meetings to be very rewarding and fun.
