hello, got a pressure washer at a yard sale for 15 bucks looks like new. it's a craftsman 2400 psi/2.2 gpm-brigs-eng.
and from what i've gathered a generac pump #1440.
the guy i got it from said it worked fine till water was coming out the pump. he tried to tightin the plug on the pump
where the water was coming out and he broke off the plug. turns out it's the unloader plug that he broke.i've located
the unloader parts kit for 10 bucks. my question is, when i install the unloader parts is there an adjustment that
has to be made there on this model ?
thanks in advance !

Hi. Is the pump all aluminum? The plug that broke...black plastic about as big as a quarter with an Allen socket in it? There is no adjustment on these. Good luck getting the rest of the plastic out of the hole without damaging the aluminum threads. I've been working on Generacs for years as a warranty center (glutton for punishment) and Generac doesn' t make a pump I like in the slightest. Buy a good replacement pump for $175.00 or so and have a decent machine for use around the house. I recommend AR for the new pump.

thanks for the reply russ ! the pump is aluminum but the lower section on the bottom is brass in color. looks like a real pain getting the rest of the plug out ! do they use some kind of sealant or locktight on the threads, and thats why the plug broak like that?

No, there's no sealant on the plug...the aluminum corrodes around it and "welds" it in. Once you get it out, there will be white residue in the threads. That's the aluminum oxidized around the plug. When you put the new one in, there will be considerable spring tension trying to push the plug out while you arre trying to push it in. Be very careful to keep it aligned properly...you could cross thread it quite easily.
