David is a licensed contractor in the state of California for exhaust cleaning.

David,, I was wondering is the license mainly carried for the fire protection end? Or is effuses put on the cleaning more than the mechanical,, or both?

In California the State does not require at this time for the Hood Cleaner along with PW to have a State Contractor License. If I recal this correctly you must have a license if the agreement is over $500 and the psi is over 5000/blasting. It cost me around $1500 including school, books, bond and exam. I own a soda blaster that fall into this regulation at this time.

In short I felt that it was just a matter of time before the state requires the license from anyone who has a truck and sends a bill. Another way of tax along with the public well being. The State of California has a good system set up regarding bond and customer complaints. I have had this license for two years and I am waiting for the regulation but nothing yet. I try to stay ahead of the curve and be as proactive as one can be.

Lots of contractors are afraid of more government intervention.

Personally I like the idea of licensing. I do know that this still does not protect the consumer in every situation, I believe it can help.

I have heard a lot of talk about getting hood cleaners license and making it mandatory. I guess the fire protection companies would b the people pushing this?

Thanks for sharing I know now where your at in this picture. Pretty good if they make it a regulation.
