Gutter Zap

We have recently discovered that Gutter Zap works very well for cloth and vinyl awnings. One of our customers in California said he cleaned crud that he hadn't been able to get off in 5 years.

Ron,

I don’t know what gutter zap is, sounds like it might be a little harsh for awnings????

You must recommend a softener and then on the cloth awnings some UV protection.

Just my thoughts, remember this gutter zap might have it. Let us know what its made of, maybe post and msds sheet.

Ron from Xterior,

I don't do awnings but know there are many types of materials used in them, would not gutter zap ruin some of those materials?

Sure I am aware it should be tested first but some may read a reply and take someones word for it.

Jon,
Nice to hear from you again.
Yes, the first thing you must do with any chemical is test, test, test. The fellow in California was talking about the very delicate awning fabrics only found there(the ones with the opaque inserts).
We have tested Gutter Zap on cloth and vinyl fabrics. The product is comprised of a small amount of potassium hydroxide and a blend of 6 synthetic detergents. It is completely safe. Our reputation rides on chemicals that work but you do need to test them on a particular application
Thanks for the reply,
Ron

Welcome and congrads on being a Moderator here Ron Strickland.

Also would you do me a favor since I lost your Email address send me an Email so I can have it again.

Thanks

Just wondering where you can buy this Gutter Zap and how do you apply it? Do you spray it on then rinse with a hose or pressure washer? Anna

Ron- This Gutter Zap sounds good. But why do they call it Gutter? Where can you buy it, or do you have to order it? Would be curious if you mix it and spray it on and rinse with a hose? Have to be careful I would think with a pressure washer. Anna

Ron, That was a fast reply. Just curious since I have been getting calls about doing cloth awnings. With all this rain & heat they are getting streaks on them. Seems not to many cleaners want to touch them. Anna

ron strickland from exterior,

remember when your doing awnings to use a uv protectant if they are cloth. i dont like using caustic baased cleaners on cloth unless you have a neutrilizer.

some of the guys know a awning site, its a good site. i dont remember the link.

wait for ron to reply or call him toll free.

Answers to Gutter Zap questions

We named it Gutter Zap because we originally formulated it to clean the black streaks off gutters. On 70-90 degree days,it is basically touchless. It will not harm vinyl or cloth. Gutter Zap is $11.50 per gallon and $49.00 per 5 gallon pail.
It has many other uses.
A lot of our Guys spray it on with the x-Jet or you can use a back pack or a pump up sprayer. It has no dwell time and you can rinse with Garden hose pressure.

Hi Ron!

We've been handling Gutter Zap a few years now and have great success. Gutter Zap will even clean carpeting. I was just told that the strength is even up just a bit. I know Ron S retired, but can't stay away from the shop. I talk to him every once-in-a-while. He seems to be doing real well. I'm stopping in their shop in early August to say "hi" since I'll be in their area.I'll let them know you say hello. Hope things are great with you. Pete says hello. I see Chris now and again, and I'm sure he would love to say a hello, also. He's doing great. Take care.
