Looking to run my 12volt pumps off a small 2hp generator 900peak / 700 running watts from Harbor Frieght.
Okay electrical guy's what do I need to do and know?
Its on sale for $88 so it seems logical. Review said 9hrs on a 1.7 gal tank of gas. Not bad

Reason to go with the gen was batteries just get destroyed in Floridas heat. Plus i hate plugging in after getting home. Also want the ability to run some work lights if needed without using my truck. Extra power source.
So do the inverters or converts harm the generator? After adding the numbers 1- 12vdc pumps runs at approx 300watts 400 under the generators 700 running watts.

Connect positive to positive and negative to negative. Use heavy gauge wire. You can get the short wire connectors from any auto store. I run two batteries and we get about 10 hrs of run time per charge. Yes you still have to plug in the charger every nite but it's worth it not to hear any noise while we are working.

Joseph, It's not easy going from AC to Dc current with the amp requirements of the 12V roof pumps. You will need a 120V to 12V converter which is capable of providing at minimum 10amps per pump. If you will be running two simultaneously, You will need a 20 amp minimum. They are approx. $175.00 or so for a 10 amp model. You will need to find out how much the converter can take as for continuous use!

Even though the generator is supposedly on sale, I wouldn't trust a $88.00 generator for such an important requirement. JMO, I would stick with a deep cycle or two wired in parallel.

Remember, It takes more to push DC power. It's why Edison lost out in the DC versus AC electric power bids.

A small generator will be nice for your lighting and such. As I mentioned in another post here, I run a 8D battery for my trailer needs and a separate group 24 deep for my Bandit. Sometimes it's a pain plugging in however, It's no-noise power and no fumes.

All the best,
Mike

Just found Delavan 5850-114e, 115ac. $150 @ sprayerdepot.com
These are going to be nice for a couple different applications just didn't see a higher gpm like a fatboy.
