Anyone Strip Parking Lots?

Twice now I've had a potential client ask me if I re-stripe parking lots. I've told them no, because I don't have the equipment or experience for it. I believe if I had said yes, I would have landed both contracts.

Any of you offer re-striping services? What kind of investment would it take? I assume it take a bit of practice and experience. Am I right?

Note: I'm only talking about re-striping existing parking lots, not laying out new lots.

I got out of it because the lowballing hacks here were charging less for the job than what I buy the paint for, it is like that in most of the larger cities last time I talked to friends around Texas.

If you wanted to get into it and get decent used equipment figure at least 10k to get started, that will get you a machine, maybe 2 if you can find them at great prices, stencils, small trailer, many different size nozzles, etc..... It is not just a striper and paint.

It is not that hard to learn, just a lot of practice.

If you want to ask more questions call me.

I used to take the old paint off for a line stripper but haven't done any of that work in a few years.

It's pretty good money in striping.

The key in this business is how the customer perceives your value, in any service that you provide. Because on the same token, there are alot of low ballers. They may or may not make great money. It's all about how you sell yourself and your services.

I work for Texas Pavement Supplies in Houston. We sell a start up package with all the stencils and everything you need to stripe for a resonable price. We also can get you a machine and show you how to use it. We have helped people in Houston start. We even have helped people in New Orleans, and Corpus Christi.
