back pressure on pressure hose..

I am not sure if I need to run heavier duty high pressure hose on my reels. I have a 3000 PSI 8 GPM machine equipped with 4000 PSI rated 3/8" hose. When I am shooting I have a PSI reading of 2,800 at the end of my hose. When I release the trigger the hose pressure is reading at 4,000 PSI. I am assuming this is normal back pressure? My hose is rated for 4000 but is there a needed buffer? I like running with the lighter hose, as the 4,500 rated hose is a larger wall diameter and thus more to drag around!

Thanks

Jared, you should be able to turn the unloader down a little to reduce that spike pressure. See if you can get it down to about 3500.
