Bilge Pump to Supply Pressure Pump

Anyone using a bilge pump to flood their pressure pump? Wondering about sizing and anything else I don't know. Was thinking a bilge rated twice the pressure pump volume. One of those Aussies or NZ guys was using one I think.

Having pump problems Tom?

No but twice now I've heard the pump manufacture guys talk like the bigger pumps are supposed to be pressure fed. I do have a feeling that pushing the water into the pump will make it run easier and boost the pressure.

Did someone mention, Aussie?

Tom, it is not huge but there is a perceivable improvement in performance if you run a pre- pump.
My thoughts on the size of pre-pump, as long as it supples positive pressure on your system, greater flow than your pressure pump draw

The main reason that I run a pre pump/bilge pump to supply my machines is that I use large 10 micron inlet filters.
You need positive water pressure on these filters or they will suck air.

Any problem running them continuously?
