This is an end result from Networking within this industry whether it be from the bulleting boards, Roundtables and Conventions. Most of my networking came from meeting people and getting to know them. For me alot of times it starts from the net such as a Bulletin board. Then from there it goes to a Roundtable where I may have corresponded with the person on the net. Thats cool to put a face and a voice to that person. If where lucky will meet up at a Convention which are my favorite if I can get there such as the 2012 PWNA Convention www.pwna.org

This building came from a guy in my area Named Chris Joyce from http://www.facebook.com/islandpowercleaning who found me thru Carlos Gonzalos from http://www.newlookpowerwash.com/ and the bb he administrates. Carlos initially helped this guy by offering advice and also sending him some picture and things to help him get started. Carlos also mentioned for Chris to give me a call www.cleancounty.com because even though I no longer take guys on to teach them the ropes I am always available to help them out or maybe hook them up because I don't worry about what my competitors do. If anything I try to network with them by sending them leads I don't want and they do the same back. I recieved some good jobs this way.

In a nutshell I got this bldg lead from Chris. When I landed the job it as usual had to be done yesterday because of the sale.(I love these pressure jobs). Chris refused to take any money or any free trip to any upcomming events. He just wanted someone in the area who will take his calls and help him with questions he may have such as equipment issues etc.

No problem there. I also hooked him up with my chemical guy and since Chris needed to do some more paper work because my area Insurance alone doesn't cut it I had them put Chris on my account until he can get himself going with his own. Also since he had some jobs lined up I purchased for him enough Chlorine that was worth a little more then a skid.

Good kid who I got from a guy Carlos Gonzalos who even though him and I had one rough patch we support each other and never burned our bridges.... so we stay in constant contact one way or another thru NETWORKING...

That is great that he contacted Carlos and Carlos told him to contact you from the bulletin board that Carlos is helping out on.

Networking is a great thing, we try to help others and it comes back to us.

These bulletin boards are great for making new friends and new networking opportunities, I am glad that these various bulletin boards exist, they sure have helped lots of contractors around the country make new friends and help their businesses grow in many different ways.

Yup the bulletin boards work. From them you can meet the guys at some roundtables and conventions. What I found out is that when you meet the people in person that you might have first connected on the net works the best besides referrals from your own business. We have worked with other companies also after meeting them at these events. It's all good.

My affiliation with the PWNA has probably brought in around $40-50 grand over the years. The biggest outright one thru the PWNA was the Trex deck company coming to the PWNA looking for contractors to do a one time cleaning for them as per class action lawsuit. That was about $15,000 over a two week period. So my membership over the years has more then paid for itself. I made money off of PWI,TGS and PWN along with the PWNA. The UAMCC is the last one I didn't make a dime off of yet.. It's just a matter of time:)

That's great John. My attendance at the Rontables and specifically the info on selling directly from Ron resulted in almost 100k last year alone. That is between networking and putting the info taught at those roundtables to use

If Ron can help produce those kinds of gains by himself I can't wait to see what he can do with the UAMCC.

Hey count me in. If Ron's that good then all of us UAMCC guys will do well. Don't forget he also has a BOD and if the UAMCC does well those guys will deserve a ton of credit also. Non profits are not about the "One" it's about the group you have in there.. So for my $149 and nothing more I'm either going to hit the home run with this org or I'll have a $149 write off...

It's not about the org, the uamcc or things like that John.

You need to make it to one of the NCE events where Ron teaches about getting work from PM's, marketing to them, and many other things that Ron teaches at the events.

There are a lot of great things that are taught at these events but they are taking this year off but typically the Tampa will be great along with Phoenix. The Phoenix event a few years ago was one of the best and unfortunately I missed it, I just could not afford to go. I will be there next time it happens along with Tampa.

It is the events that are held that Ron shares his 25+ years experience in the industry that makes the big difference, not the org he is helping or any other org out there.

Next year you need to make it to a couple of these great events John, you will meet great people, learn some great things, we all can have some drinks and have a great time!

Sounds like a plan Chris. I'm pretty sure I went to an NCE sponsored event. It was the Myrtle beach Roundtable co-hosted with Jeff L- The Condo King. Ron is a natural MC. Big mistake I made was not going to that Houston meeting last year.
As I write this now I'm sitting in a parking garage in NJ.. We've been hitting 18hr days here because of the main company missing there deadline. They have the maintenance contract nationwide for this large corporation including all painting, striping, sweeping, electrical you name it.. Where all colliding into each other here.. Total fiasco.. Right in the middle of Newark airport.

You look at this and the pressure the main guy here is under. He said he's logged in himself 120 hrs this week and if you saw this operation going on here there is no reason not to believe him. He likes my little operation but his thinking is old school.. Get the job done and do what it takes to make that happen and stop making big dams that are making pools around drains..lol. This is politically incorrect.. But my kind of guy.. Where old school:).. So the dams are down.. But I still keep my screens over the drains.. Because after all I read and learned from these environmental cleaning masters its the least I can do to at least try and do the right thing and also keep this guy in charge on schedule as far as my services are concerned--- where going to finish our part a day early because we just keep working even after all the Union guys here left hours ago.. It's good to be hungry:)
