burner shooting flames

Just got my burner functional again after about 1 month of no use and it has been flaming outta the top about 2-3 inches high. I thought it was just burning crap out that had built up but its been about 30 hours now and its still flaming strong. My other identical machine on the rig doesn't flame like this, is something wrong with the flame thrower machine?

Got a fuel pressure gauge? The piston in the pressure regulating area of the pump may be stuck due to sitting. Can you adjust the fuel pressure down and affect the flames at all? How about adjusting up? Does it get worse?

How do I adjust f.pressure? No pressure gauge on hand but I can run by advanced auto for one, if piston is stuck I'll try wacking it with a screwdriver handle.

It could be a kohler engine problem...lol

The pressure adjustment is a slot screw in the large nut on the back of the pump. Clockwise increases pressure, counter lowers it.

Could be the baffle inside too, if that fell off it will shoot out flames.
