Coil insulation

I took the cap off my burner (landa) and the insulation is all black and pretty burned up. I thought this might be the case since that fire ball that came out of it a couple weeks ago (I didn't have the generator full throttle so my burner was dumping fuel but not igniting it, when I hooked up to an outlet...kaboom, flames shooting out the stack!).

Anyway, is there a certain type of replacement insulation to get? The stuff that was in there wasn't the loose fiber stuff, it was pretty tightly woven, about an inch thick. I hope I can get something local asap. Would Lowes/HD have the stuff I need or is it specialty insulation?

Thanks

It's ceramic fiber insulation. I buy mine locally, but it's a 50 square foot roll. Even replacing the end pieces, you'll only need about 12 - 13 square feet. I have it if you need some. The only place you might get it locally would be a pressure washer shop.

If you want to buy a full box, try a firebrick dealer...
