I have seen a rash of issues with the pulse-pumps used by all the mfr's..
Briggs, Kohler, Honda,.. they all use the black plasic fuel pump,
or the aluminum Mikuni vers.
Just to complicate things, the Vanguards have a "mystery-quirk" where one in 10 won't hardly operate a pulse pump at all.
..very strange ! .. but I will get to the bottom of that.

So, I'll say this..
Lifting the fuel more than 2 ft is questionable, but with 3/8" line, 10 feet away is no big deeal.

If you have to lift 2 ft or more, just go to an electric fuel pump, and be done with it.

What brand and model of electric fuel pump?

Will this need a return line back to the tank?

Where can one buy one on short notice?

Thanks.

Would you install this between the fuel tank and the filter?

Do you need a line back to the fuel tank so the carb does not flood?

Thanks.

Chris, install it between the filter and the carb.
..the filter protects the pump.
As insurance.. you can add a pressure regulator, but I've had good luck without.

..for wiring..
on a Briggs v-twin, connect it to the white wire dangling from your engine over the starter ..
it is "switched B+"

on the Honda v-twins..
it looks like the yellow wire that goes to the "Fuel-Cut solenoid" is your B+ wire,
and the other.. run to B- on the battery.

Could you just leave the original fuel pump in place and install the electric fuel pump between the filter and the carb/original fuel pump?
