Just got the call. Roughly 100 gallons of gas spilled on asphault at a gas station. They said they cleaned it up with the an absortion product and most of it is dried, but they want it cleaned up. I caught a wiff of nervousness from the guy. I dont have much gas station experience and thinking it may be may be more of a hazmat cleanup than anything else. Its near my shop so I may just take a look at it but something tells me the owners, Rupi and Jeep, may not make it worth my while to unwinterize any equipment. Just throwing it out there to see how it could be approached.

Ed,
If you need a vacuum system give a call. I have done these cleanups before.

If this is a call as a result of enforcement action from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. be prepared for 100% recovery and post clean-up sampling of MTBE's by them. We did some clean up at a government facility and I thought they would be complete thorn's in our side but they were really helpfull. They will walk you through what they require. Call this number and they will send you a acrobat document on what needs to be done.

Yes what alexy said. They will do post cleanup testing. The DEP, most of the time, will be by your side telling you what they want. All you can do is give the owner a min $ number to come out then charge them time and material.

I observed one live clean up of a WM trash truck in my neighborhood the hydraulic lines burst or engine oil pan catastrophic failure.

I did not observe anyone form the local MDE but I am sure the bill was hefty, .....on site was 3 environmental local company trucks, one pickup with hot water pressure washer...water tank in bed, and a large vacuum truck, another pickup truck loaded with adsorbent brooms and shovels.

The jobs is calling Ed

Why didn't you take care of that job Nigel?
