Gear Box assembly

I got a gear box from an online supplier yesterday and it didn't come with any assembly instructions. It also doesn't have any make or model on it. I want to get this installed between my Kohler 18hp and my 5.5gpm pump this weekend, but I don't want to screw it up so does anybody have assembly instructions? Also it didn't come with either keyway so can I reuse the keyways off my old belt drive system or do gear boxes require special ones?

I have one tip - The key on the gear that slides onto the pump shaft has a set screw, clean it up, crank it down and use loctite.

So the nuts on the left actually go to my muffler. My main questions are which way does the loose gear face (does the side that is up in the picture go toward the gear or toward the pump?) and also what order do I assemble the box on the pump side?

The 'plate' is recessed to fit onto the housing, the flat side goes against the pump. It can really only go on one way and there should be another large o-ring. I would bolt plate to pump, then box to plate and then support the whole thing and bolt to the engine. Personally I would use indianhead shellac type gasket stuff on all flat mating surfaces including around the bolt holes between pump and plate (not on the orings)

something tells me there are going to be problems.

Remove the 4 screws on the pump by the output shaft.
Install the small square plate on the pump with the oring between the pump and plate. (Use some silicone sealer so it does not leak on you.)
use the longer Allen screws (the ones in the middle) With some locktite install them in the holes in the plate to the pump and tighten down.
Install the gear on the pump shaft with the flat side away from the pump. use locktite on the set screw and install in the gear
Put the rest of the gear box assembly on the pump and use some silicone in the gasket between the plate and gear box.
Using the 4 bolts and nuts secure both parts together and install on the engine.

I would recommend a hardened key on the engine and make it the full length of the shaft. the more surface area where they meet the better. I would also suggest using some antisieze on the shaft so when you want to take it apart later you can. use 80w90 gear lube in the gear box and fill to the center of the sight glass. some may come out as you use it because the gear lube will foam. you can re add it to the gear box or just keep an eye on it so it does not get too low.
