I want to be a mad scientist?????

I am not sure if this is an appropriate question or not, so please just let me know either way.

I am interested in buying raw chems in bulk and mixing my own cleaners. My problem is I am not sure on what I need to start. Obviously, there are the safety factors involved and I certainly don't want to blow myself up. But safety aside, where do I start?

I have a chemical supplier that I can buy from but my main concern is a recipe. I ask the supplier for help but they have their own blends of soaps and did not seem real enthused about sharing their "secret recipe of herbs and spices". Can't say I blame them but I still would like to investigate this a little further.

I am not sure I even want to do this but I feel like it's worth looking into

Hey Bigboy and Les....I think you fellows have some experience in this field. Can you throw the dog a bone and point me in the right direction? I appreciate any help at all you guys or anyone else can give my on this.

Greg

Thats funny, most all raw suppliers have recipes to help their accounts with cleaning mixes or to even pick up new accounts.
What type cake are you wanting to make, they are several different kinds of chocit.

Hey Bigboy,

Honestly, I actually talked to two different suppliers in the two closet large citys to me (I am a lil' town boy). I was only able to find three suppliers within about a 200 mile radius. I won't say they were offended when I ask them about it. But they didn't seem excited about it either. Don't get me wrong, they both were enthusiastic about selling me raw chems, but they were REALLY enthusiastic about selling their brand of soaps.

I will say that one of them sent me some samples of his products and said if I needed it hotter I could just add some sodium hydroxide and that he would help me with that. That may be all I need anyway. I am gonna try it out this weekend on them nasty old garbage trucks.

I don't expect anyone to give up their secret recipes. Don't get me wrong, that would be great and most appreciated. But I was looking for somewhere to start looking such as maybe a book or web site. Maybe even just an ingrediant list so at least I know what I'm looking for.

And then too, I am not sure if this is a feasable idea for me. I am more testing the water than anything (never know I may catch me a big ol' bass).

As for flavor chocit is good but vineller is ok too. No really I am looking for something to degrease those nasty garbage trucks with. They got more grease than VAVOLINE and garbage juice too.

I don't wash any OTR trucks just these greasy monsters that smell bad.

I really appreciate everyones help. Feel free to email me.

Thanks

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it and I will definately be careful. I am lucky in that I have a building that I can use to store and mix the chemicals in that is secure and away from everything else espically children.

This information is going to be great and I can't say enough how great everyone is in helping, not just this question but with everything I have ever ask. I hope I can help someone here as much as everyone has helped me.

BTW, I tried the samples the chemical company sent me. It is not quite what I need although I think it would me a good general use soap.

Ron, I will holler at you on monday for that info. Thanks

Bigboy, Thanks again.

And quess what.....I am taking the week off ( mon, tues, wed) to go deer hunting. So I will see you guys on Thursday.

Have a great Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Concentration?

Hey Bigboy,

Hope you and everyone else had a great Thanksgiving. I have eat till I'm as full as a tick on a coonhound.

Anyway, that last formula you gave for degreaser. Obviousily that's a concentrated solution. But how concentrated is it? At what dilution rate would you start with that?

I called one of the suppliers and he gave me a price on the chems. So if I can dilute it same as what I am using (8-1) I'm in good shape. I already ordered enough to make 55 gal to start.

Thanks Again
Happy ThanksGiving

Try these in your area, wholesale chemical companies.

Chemex, apex chemicals or hill brother chemicals

Sorry it took so long, if these guys are not in your area E-mail me and I can call them here and ask whom they might recommend. Mus1961@aol.com

Yel man I'm walking around with a pop belly too, like a big tick getting so full then falling off the coondog.

Yel the formular was for 500 gal. but I made it in 250 and from that I started making in 55 gal.

You'll just have to try it and see,I added 2 gal. to 25 gal. soap mix, 1/4 in. chemical line to pump, upstreamed.

............250 less space,as the reason, less product carried on rig,if you get my meaning.

Do Not use it on polished.

Say no more.

Thanks for reply ron if you can come up with any suppliers in ny area like simonize etc that would be great!

Does anyone have names,#,or web site for chemical companies with wholesale chemicals, formulas etc.Ron i tried chemex .apex, hillbrother cant find anything in my search. Please help
