Im in need of a new washer...my machine ran out of gas on me while on a job, refilled her up but when I went to crank her over the battery didnt have enough juice to crank her over, so I pull started it and it fired up....when it fired up the machine sounds extremely different, almost like a clanking sounds...or exhaust leak of some sort. Then it just shut down...havent been able to get it start back. Check all fluids and they are all at good levels, it tries to start but isnt kicking over...

I dont have time to mess with it and I am in need of a washer by monday...

I seen this machine while browsing northen tool...its on sale at my local store for 2g and seems like a good deal...what do you guys think?

If you have to have it by monday, then that's an okay deal at $2000. Too bad you don't have time to order something from one of the great vendors on here.

i'm not as worried about the Vanguard as the Comet pump.

Go to home Depot tomorrow and get a 13hp Lifan for $300 and swap that in place until you get your issues sorted out. HF has a similar Chonda for around the same price if you use a 20 percent off coupon. HF also a 22hp v-twin that is supposed to hit stores this week for about 600.

I just couldn't justify spending the money on that machine, not so much spending money on equipment just not on a Northern Tool machine.

Vanguard = DOA. On all the boards I have never read one good thing about them.

What's the make of your current engine? From your description of what happened it sounds like it's a Chonda*.

$2000 for a belt drive 6 gpm machine sounds like a good deal. I actually had a 5 gpm northstar pump as a backup. It never failed on me but it never really felt like I was getting 5 gpm out of it and it didn't seem like I was getting 3000 psi out of it either. I was just leery of the thing and opted for a GP 4.6 gpm pump. That was definitely a lot better and I was a lot more comfortable using it. I would order a real machine, and rent one until it comes in. for another 1k+ you can get a much better setup.
