Just got 8 more of these -20 freezers, holy crap they are cold and we will be in a -40 blast freezer in a few weeks. That pic is of me just standing there with ice forming all over me.

The -40 blast freezer we are doing is for a movie, we are supplying hot water for ambient effect.....pretty cool, but we dont even know the name of the movie yet.

It is so cold in there that your thoughts will freeze. Forget about sneezing. It is so cold in there that it makes our vac hose almost totally rigid. It turns electrical tape into candy, it just breaks off like a potato chip, it is crazy. I wore sneakers last week with a few pairs of socks and that blew bad.....

I dared one of the guys to stick their tongue to the metal......turned it down.....bummer...

We had a hp hose get a pin leak and we didn't know it for a few hours, it made a ice ant hill. I wanted to take pics of it but I couldn't get Clearance:angry:

I will have some pics approved this week of a defrost we did 90 feet up in the condenser room, we were hanging on small ass ropes applying steam to a joint, it was crazy, the water came down as snow/sleet/ice balls

Have one coming up in the Orlando are if anyone wants to lend a hand.

Joe may I ask what temp were you using to do the cleaning I know when I worked for pulbex ware house they did very litttle cleaning inside the freezor ware house only let the guys work half hour to 45 min in and 15 min out of that room.

The water is running at 275 internal, by the time it comes out it is around 205. We are using a custom made steam box with a turbo nozzel hooked up the vac, works awesome.

I wish that 45 min rule applied, but not for us, and if we stop running water for more then 5 minutes, it will freeze. And forget about getting water on the floor, freezes just about on contact, and the floors have glycol running through them.

Well when you say that Publix had very little freezer cleaning done, thats probably because anyone that they asked, just couldn't or wouldn't do it, after all it is kinda crazy to bring water into that environment. But I took a chance on it, made some really cool tools for the job, gave a sample, they loved and the rest is $1.85 per square foot history.

Here is a video of us cleaning a restaurant freezer, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkxoFPSJ4Gs it is way harder to do those then it is to do the 350k sq foot freezers. Why, cause you need to leave the door open a bit and you are at the same time introducing hot water into the cooler, raise that temp too long and food regs will make ya tools them, then send us a bill for the wasted food. So understanding the methodology is key to the selling of coolers, large or small.

And lets never forget waters need to level off, you can really chase some water around if not careful.

Good Luck,

Years ago when I worked at Sam's Club I worked in many departments but the last one was the Freezer/Cooler. The freezer was at -9 and we stocked shelves there, mostly inside because of customers being in the store and we couldn't get in their way plus the frozen boxes would thaw out causing condensation on the boxes and then wet floors.

We would stock shelves for 1-2 hours then come out to warm up, front the merchandise then go back in to stock more. Did that for a few years working in the Freezer/Cooler then went to work outside for my dad's tree business. One extreme being in the cold then going outside to trim trees in the sun.

I thought I would get sick working in the cold then the sun but found out it was the germs/bacteria that makes you sick, not really the cold otherwise I would have been sick all the time working there. I didn't get a cold or flu those years doing that job. Interesting.

We will be in the Tampa area tomorrow through Saturday give me a call and we can meet up.

Send me an e-mail and I'll put a reminder to call ya when we are in Orlando.

Are you coming to Tampa? Will have them there for at least a few days.

You are close enough to walk...
