Landle Bars

Well I got the Landa Water Jet rebuilt and running great. It is a fine surface cleaner. One thing that I didn't like about it was that the handle is narrow and after a lot of concrete my shoulders were getting sore. Well I was getting ready for a job in the morning and noticed a piece of aluminum tubing from an old swimming pool net. A hack saw, some hose clamps and presto! I call them LANDALE BARS! I'm taking them for a spin in the morning.. I pushed it around the drive and it felt great. We'll see how it does on the job.

That looks great. I always thought those handles were a little too short for me. But nobody else complains about it so we just left it alone.

I just rebuilt three of these that were getting worn.

I put on the new one piece bars on all three. The new bars are not adjustable and use 1/4 inch tips instead of 1/8.

Put new bearings in all three.

One of the shafts was worn down to the point where it was getting hourglass shaped and developed a crack. Had to throw that shaft out.

Another shaft would not tighten all the way down because something was wrong with the threads. I tried to be slick and cut off 1/4 inch of the Deublin so it wouldn't have to go all the way to that bad spot in the shaft thread and I screwed up the threads on the swivel! All that trying to keep from having to pay $120 for a new shaft.

So I took the shaft and the swivel to the machine shop and had them rethread both of them. ......... $150! Stupid, stupid, stupid.

But, I managed to completely refurb three and am left with one parts donor.

I'll let you know how they work in the real world. They feel great just pushing it around. I rebuilt this one with new bearing, shaft, one piece bar with 1/4 meg tips, larger hose. Works great and I have just under $400.00 in it. By the way, i run it without that helmet on it. That shouldn't hurt anything should it.

At 6'6" I had to extend my water jet handles UP, not out. Surprisingly some sched 40 pvc does the trick, but it looks like mine is a different model than yours.

Send me a pic if you can. I tried mine out on the job today and they worked great. Let me see what yours looks like. I may like them better.
