Largo Horizontal Hotbox for 8 GPM Machine

I'm getting ready to order a hotbox for an 8 GPM cold machine next week. I've decided to go with the Largo horizontal 115 volt 8-12 GPM unit. Here's a link to that product:

Largo offers the same hotbox but for 6-8 GPM machines for about $400.00 less than the 8-12 GPM hotbox. Before I order the 8-12 GPM hotbox I want to make sure that it isn't overkill for an 8 GPM pressure washer vs. the 6-8 GPM version of the same hotbox. Will the 8-12 GPM hotbox out-perform the 6-8 GPM hotbox when coupled with an 8GPM pressure washer?

I agree with Hal. In the future if you want to upgrade to a 12 GPM machine to run 2 guns off of then at least you already have the coil for it, all you would need is the engine and pump.

Hey Hal, I'm sure I'll love it. I would order it today but the wife and I are going on a trip to Charleston for several days next week and I want to be home when the shipment arrives. I'm betting everybody is going to say go with the longer coil of the 8-12 GPM hotbox instead of the shorter coil of the 6-8 GPM hotbox. I just looked back at what Russ Johnson said in my last thread about hotboxes. He said a longer coil hotbox will use less fuel to heat the water so I guess that pretty much answers my question. Just wanting to make sure before I pull the trigger. The two units in question are about $400.00 difference in price which is no concern at all. Just wanting to get the one that will be most efficient for my situation.

By the way, I enjoyed our phone conversation a couple of weeks back.

I was looking at them too ( vertical ) though. I am looking at the 8-12. 9 months ago I never though I'd be pushing 8 gpm. Let alone now shopping for heat!

Matt, yeah man.......it's great to be shooting 8 GPM and rinsing everything much faster. I do mostly residential and a few commercial buildings but wanting to diversify by getting equipped for just about any commercial stuff that comes my way, especially flat work. I'm actually too busy with residential work over the next month and a half to spend any time mounting a hotbox on my trailer but going to jump in and do it anyway. I imagine my business model will change as this venture unfolds. I'm looking forward to it.

Good luck to you as you enter the world of heat.

Yeah same here Richard very nice talking to you to. I think we can all have our views on the heat situation however the one thing will never change it cost to heat water no matter how you look at it.Good luck with it getting new equipment is always fun.

Hey Hal, what does the plate with model and gpm say? I was just looking at mine and noticed it says 98115 which I think is the smaller 6-8 gpm model.

I have had my horizontal largo for 3.5 years (3500-4000 hours), it's been a fairly reliable and trouble free. I would recommend a spare thermostat and to put a better fuel filter setup on it. I switched to spin on racor setup as an easier replacement in the field, also put a vacuum gauge between the filter and pump to give me a quick visual for a plugged filter.

I changed my thermostate out mine ate those things I put a digital one on an also went with a racor filter.mine says 8 gpms at 4000 psi.I have a big Phoenix flow switch just haven't put it own the one on it now will stick an I just take it apart separate the magnets an I am good.
