looking for a trailer

I am looking to get a trailer for a couple of reasons. So far I have been working out of the bed of my truck with a portable unity and I am quickly running out of room. I really dislike loading and unloading my equipment in the bed of my truck at the start and end of the day. I wish I had gone with a trailer mounted skid to begin with.

Last week I learned the hard way I would like to have a float tank, probably 30 gallons. I would also like to have a 50 or 60 gallon chemical tank for roofs which I would drive with it empty or nearly empty. In the future I am planning on purchasing a hot box but that is down the road.

I am currently using a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 V8

With what I immediately plan to put on the trailer, I am looking at around 1000 lbs with tanks fully loaded. As I said, I am not planning on riding with full tanks. I guess I am looking for a 2000 lb capacity trailer. I have seen a couple at Northern Tool, Tractor Supply and other similar places.

I have looked on Craigslist but the ones I have found are either too big, cheap homebuilts that will not work, or the poster is asking way too much money.

Any thoughts or opinions about where to find a good trailer, what to look for, etc?

In my experience it is best to have the biggest trailer that you can get in and out of jobsites. I think a 6x12 would be a minimum. When you need a bigger tank or room for a surface cleaner you will be glad you went bigger. The hemi won't have a problem pulling a big trailer.

Keenan, check for trailer dealers in your area...if it's anything like Houston there are a ton and they "dicker" on price.

Throw up some pics DJ. I gotta guy here looking for one.

Thanks DJ, but I am not looking to buy a full rig at this time as I already have many of the components I need. Good luck finding a new owner for that equipment. Doug, I have looked at the websites for many of the trailer dealers in the area and the prices are either way too high, or listed as "call to get more info." I guess that means there is wiggle room or "dicker" room as you put it, but I have very low patience for sales people. When I bought my truck years ago, as soon as the dealer said he had to check with a manager I would walk out. Just tell me what you are willing to sell an item for, I will tell you if I will buy it.
