Losing pressure?

Ok, the machine is a 16 hp vanguard mated to a ar pump, direct drive. I've lost about 400-500 psi, and possibly some flow. Unloader is working. The unit has 600 hours on it. One thing I've noticed is rpm on engine is about 3450 but under load (spraying trigger) it drops to 3300. Is that normal?
I've also replaced packings and valves at 350 hours. Just replaced fuel filter, and air filter on vanguard. No change, kinda stumped. Is it time for packings again?

sounds like packing to me or water inlet filter clogged.

I would check your water inlet, whats the GPM of your machine? If you have replaced the packings already I wonder if you are starving your pump. 350 hours is way to early to be doing any pump work.

Your engine will dip a bit when you pull the trigger, normal. The other filters are good to replace, but have nothing to do with your current problems.

Tell us more about the rig.

Is it fed with a tank or garden hose?

What is the model of the pump?

Post some pics of the setup.

Have you checked the water filter?

Thanks Chris. It's a hydrotek skid. Tank and machine were mounted at factory. I believe it had a general 4040ez originally, but I put on a AR : RKV5.5G40.

I don't know about that pump, is it designed so it will pull from a tank? Not all direct drive pumps will pull from a tank.

I know the EZ4040 will pull from a tank when direct drive but I am not familiar with the other pump, who did you ask or did you know it will pull from a tank for sure before installing it?

The RKV will pull water better than the EZ due to the larger piston bore.
Post some pics of your inlet plumbing please.

Thank for the replies guys. I cracked it open and replaced packings, back to 3500 psi. That's 2 sets of packings and 1 set of valves on this pump with around 500 hours! Never have this problem with belt drive units.
