Customer got the oil changed in VW at the dealer. They screwed up and when she got home it spilled on her asphalt driveway.

Her husband put down NAPA oil dry, but left it for a couple of weeks during snow and cold weather and it stained the asphalt. He couldn't get it off with a power washer. Any ideas?

Thanks Guys!

Asphalt is petroleum based so using degreasers is not a great idea, they did the right thing with the absorbent.

By the looks of the rest of the driveway, they are about due for for more sealcote which would cover up the little stains and help water proof and protect the rest of the driveway.

With a little bit too much pressure, you can easily destroy that asphalt.

With oil leaks, soaps, degreasers, just about any type of chemical added to asphalt, it starts to soak in and weaken the asphalt, sealcote will help protect it again. Absorbents are one of the best things to do for asphalt without the risk of damage.

Agree, and that's what I told her. The trouble is the house is going on the market right away, but the seal coat guys around here won't do it until about mid-April when nightime temps warm up.

Oh well, I was hoping for a little PWI magic, but as I suspected she's stuck.

Here's an idea. Let's start making black absorbent! lol

Black paint or black stain can do the job.

Spray paint, roll on, brush on.

H&C black stain can also work.

If you go this route, keep everyone and vehicles off the area for a day or longer.

Think about it......using a torch close to asphalt........a product made from oil.

Might try washing it lightly with TIDE sweep with a broom and hose off......

I've actually done that a few times myself and the customer is always happy with the results.
