Need some help about oxylic acid

I was told that Oxylic acid would take rust off of brick siding. Like a fool I didn't test it out first on a small area. It took off the rust but the bricks have a orange tint now. I thought that it was just because the bricks were clean but now I"m not sure. I told the home owner I would come back in a few days after the bricks have dried. The rust was from a second story water heater that leaked and ran down the side of the house. Did I do something wrong and what can I do if I did.

As a rule, oxalic won't "burn", but if the bricks have a high iron content, you may have lightened them. Without seeing them, I would try Prosoco's Shure Kleen 800 or their Ferrous Stain Remover. Both of these will reverse acid "burn".
