New trailer purchase.

I just bought this Enclosed trailer. Its a little long at 20' but it's a low profile trailer that is under 80" in height which is going to be for my parking garage set-up. It opens up at both ends so there will be constant air flow in there. I'm going to put a vacuum system in there, one hot water Powerwasher, my Swabby and a ton of hoses etc. I think I got a pretty decent deal for it. It's a Wells Cargo Trailer which are decent trailers. The axles are only 3500lb and I think that is all I will need since we carry 900 gallons of water on the flatbed so I maybe able to get away with those axles. I can switch them out with my other trailers 5500lb axle but so far I don't think I need it.

I bought this trailer as soon as I saw it on EBay. The Guy is coming from Florida and will bring it within 200 miles of my house and for that and the trailer I got him to do it for $3000. Now I can leave my stuff in these garages or at the hotel without having to deal with some mope swinging and breaking my Swabby bar or worse...stealing it the next time.

Are you going to paint it red?

Nice catch John, your NY garages must be big, cause anything bigger than a parking space cant get into a lot of DC parking garages
Hey Nigel.. I don't do any garages in ny city.. There dumps and they won't pay at least to me squat. Some garages Nigel that we do I can't even get my f-250 in. Actually 2 garages are like that and there in a different city. Reason why I have probably close to a half a mile in Powerwashing hoses and at least 1500' in garden hose if not more.

The lowest point in any garages we did is around 5'8". Where the main beams were running across. That garage makes no sense to have that but it's an employee parking area and there are signs all over there that say about the low height... Lawsuit waiting to happen

5' 8" is on the low end here too.

The turns are a problem also, .... a couple 4'x6' selfpropelled rigs with near forklift turning radius and an output of 12 gpm @ 4000 would be the ticket.

Jim Gamble has a neat idea he's building to solve those height issues. His work with hydraulics is amazing as his project he's working on now. To bad him and some others bring out the worst in each other and then they get themselves zapped on the net..
That pump Nigel is not going to be cheap. I had a pump that I'm sorry I sold with my diesel PW last year. It was a Udor pump rated @ 11gpm @4500 psi.. Didn't know it cost $4000. But one of the pumps I bought to replace that was a Udor rated @ 10gpm @3500psi and I got it for around $1000 new. It's sufficient but half the weight and nowhere near the strength of the other pump... And here's a trick for ya.. Without counting the price of my last pump(I should have never sold it Dumda dum) that pump you could set it at max level and run a thousand feet of hoses and you had plenty of pressure at the end of the hose.... Today I do that and I lose upwards to a 1000psi and cleaning garages 2500 psi is not enough. Perfect number for us is 3500 but anything between 3000-3500 with high heat sitting around 190 degrees works best for us... But I never dealt with what Jim does because that's out of my league and thought process. One of our concerns while cleaning parking garages along with keeping the drains clear is the Garage expansion joints.

Some of the garages we cleaned you can see the water dripping through the cracked cement and hitting the next floor.. These garage owners need to be educated because they will lose there cash cows... But..what they do is they tend to sell there garage off.. And so on and so on... By the time the last owner gets it... The garage is considered Condemned.. Then that last company is screwed.. Or maybe they do it on purpose because they probably rope the insurance company in to help pay for a new one...

Still trying to figure that one out. Some garages here have never been Powerwashed and one we do now every year they bought it off the last owner who had it built in 93-94 and sold it to this company in 09 and it's beautiful but it was never Powerwashed and some of the floors the water leaks right thru where they need a good seal coating but now this new company's owner won't pay for that and the top floor that's exposed is starting to crumble in area's...go figure.

Hey John, nice trailer!

I ain't sorry ya sold it :thumbup2: Just messin with ya man. I got a heck of a deal on that rig!

We have been running that diesel 40 hours per week since I bought it in Jan. and its still going strong. I had to rebuild the head a couple months ago but that was probably 1st time it had ever been rebuilt. That Lombardini is still overkill for that big pump even! Whenever I get around to it, I plan on putting 2 8gpm generals on it and using the udor somewhere else. Right now I have that diesel washer and an 8.5 at 3600psi washer on one trailer and my 2 guys can ROCK AND ROLL with it!

John thats one of my biggest fears I have, the structural integrity of a garage floor, and the weight of heavy pw trailers with water, and their load distribution.

Who do you think uploaded the smaller rig in Jim Gamble's mind, he had been agonizing over it for years, often he got calls to perform smaller jobs, .....along with limited access to a few smaller garages he does.

With respect to one pump at that volume 12 gpm, in todays economy you have to build rigs at a lower cost with near as good performance.

It would be cheaper to run 2 pumps (one driver) to achieve the 12gpm @ 4000 (this is the second place option) ......if you went with one big gas motor then third place with 11 @ 3800 or 12 @ 3500,

David you sure got a good deal and I'm glad I sold it to ya because I knew you would love it. That diesel engine was was pretty new as in use. It was a demo engine my lombardini dealer had that only had an hour on it so you pretty much got a brand new engine. Only my guys can destroy a diesel engine and they did and my dealer gave me a great deal on that engine which would have cost me the same to fix the same engine I got on there.. So yup you got a killer of a deal.

Don't ever sell that pump. It's not cheap to rebuild it but it goes forever if you take care of it. The cheapest I found that pump was about $4300 so you really got a $12,000 PW for what $4500? Flip side David I bought my F550 diesel flatbed back that I sold 2 yrs earlier @12,000 for $6000 and only 7000 extra miles on it with a couple of new tires and 40welds redone on the aluminum bed.. So you got lucky..I needed the cash and you called at the right time. .

We run 1 HWPW 8.5gpm @ 3000 psi and another one @ 10gpm @3500 psi.. But since there is so much hose length always used on these type jobs a good 4000psi pump would be perfect @10gpm.. Bit there not cheap either. Just bought a 34hp Kohler with an 8.5gpm pump at 3500 psi. I might take that pump off and add a 10gpm @ 3500psi but I need a generator added to this engine so that may be impossible.

I might be selling this trailer before I even get it. Going to start another post on it.

John with that type of gpm amd length of hose, i could only imagine the the time delay between the trigger shuting off and the unloader responding.

Do you run any 1/2 inch sections on long runs?

Yes we use mostly 1/2" for flatwork but if where short hose we'll attach 3/8" hose at the ends. The delay on the unloaded is not that noticeable. Probably a second or two because the water is under pressure all the way down so the delay is short. We use the The green spring mostly and sometime the blue spring Unloaders from Envirospec. I love those Unloaders.
