new unloader problems

hi i have a general pump ez4040 i started losing pressure so i just put on a new unloader. when i pull the trigger on my gun i only get 2000 psi and when i let off it is at 4000psi. why am i only getting 2000 psi operating pressure? And how do i fix the problem?
 
yes over and over. the only thing that changes it the spike psi. but the operating psi is not changing
 
i adjusted it buy lowering the locking nuts down and it raises the psi when i am not on the gun but then i compress the trigger i still only get 2000 psi
 
and yes i used a 4gallon per minute 0 degree nozzle.
 
Engine rpm. Mine did the same thing. The engine need a tune-up. It gradually got worse. Thought it was the unloader also
 
i just found the problem. I feel stupid. my inlet filter had a bit of blockage and was restricting my flow. got it working just before dark. at least its ready to clean city hall tomorrow. thanks for all your help guys.

Yes the follow-up fix was a good thing. Its easy to forget after asking for advice telling what fixed her up. That drove me crazy when my truck broke down. Thousands of threads on problems with no following up on the fix.
