Parking garage sweeping

Looking for some advice on what the going rates are on Parking garage sweeping? The garage is 5 story, 350,000 sq. ft. They would like it swept bi-weekley. I would be sweeping it with a Advance Captor with a 60" sweeping path. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind of a hard question to answer as there are lots of things that would still need to be answered. Are they requiring you to blow out cornors? Are thry requiring you to haul away debris? or do they have a dumpster ther for you to use to dump in? Are they requiring it to be done daytime or night time? Will there be cars in garage when you are completing the job? Is there a noise ordinence that you have to deal with? All of these are factors that need to be addressed. But after you have these answers you just need to figure out how long it will take you to complete the job and multiply by your hourly price. If you cant make money,,,, what is the point in having it. There are lowballers everywhere,,,,,Let them have it if you arnt making money. Plus you dont want to get into a problem with the " you were supposed to include that " " now I want you to do that also and not change your price " Make sure your contract spells out exactly what you are doing for the price you charge them.

Hope that helps a little.

Ed,

To answer a few of your questions:

They have a dumpster for debris.
Work would be done at night.
No cars in garage.
No car stops.
No corners.

This is a very straight forward sweeping. The machine I have is supposed to be able to sweep up to 160,000 per hour. Based on this info, what would be your thoughts on pricing? I realize you are west coast so that will certainly vary.

Well based on your answers..................If your sweeper is supposed to sweep at 160,000 per hour for 350,000 to be swept, That would be a little over 2 hrs per sweep. Plus dumping time, you will have to figure out how many times you think you will need to dump each visit and how much time it will take you too get to dumpsters and dump and back to sweeping area. Plus travel time to get to job, plus loading and unloading time. Do you have another job close by before or after this job every time it is swept. So I will have to guess a bit here to try to help. sweeping time including dumping time we will say 2 1/2 hrs. load and unload time 1/2 hr (I know a bit much). Travel time to and from job 1 hr. Total time per visit 4hrs. Now guessing your machine rate per hour that you charge is $50.00 per hour times 4 hrs is $200 per visit. 26 visits per year is $5200 per year. Or bill monthly flat rate of $433. Whatever rate you charge times the hours gets you to your price, basic math. Hope that helps you. If you want to call me and talk on the phone it is fine with me and I will help what I can.

That was just a number thrown out. He is using a ride on type of sweeper, not a truck mounted sweeper. Ride on sweepers are cheaper to run then a truck mounted sweeper. Plus you dont have the added expence of Auto insurance your general liabilty insurance covers you on that type of sweeper.

I've got 4 road sweepers and 2 ride on types so I totally understand. That number kinda shocked me to say the least! I suppose different amounts of dirt etc will effect pricing as well as employee wages. We swept a road the other day that I'd guess was about 2-2.5 miles long and took off 42 yards of dirt!

We have Street Sweepers and Parking lot sweepers, We do alot of construction and road sweeping, working with chip spreaders and slurry machines. The most I have probaly picked up in one day using one machine is around 400 to 500 tons. Chip work is a lot of bulk pick up..

I would estimate it between 200 to 250 yards, and between 50 to 60 sweeper dumps
