Post card mania, anyone using them?

It will be interesting to see who has used them and got a good response from one of the postcard designs and mailings.

There are a lot of companies out there that can make nice or pretty cards but getting the customer to call for more info, estimates or work is another story.

Has anyone used them and got a good response from their design/ad ? If so, what kind of response did you get?

No have not used them. Price was kind of out there. Seemsto take a big committment. I have a great success with the USPO direct mail.

There's a bunch of guys doing that too Doug , it's pretty cost efficient.

I talked to them yesterday about a big direct mail campaign and it really got me thinking. Her line of thinking was something like this. "Okay your average residential job is $800.00. How much do you want to produce a month?" I told her $40,000 a month in residential. Her response "okay on WORST case you should expect a quarter of one percent response, so to get 50 jobs at that rate you would need to send 20,000 postcards to get that at WORST CASE. Anything else is just gravy or what if you got the AVERAGE of 1% it would be 4x that amount!!

Anyway it was just another good way to look at things. I have always been more of a "I want to spend $1,000 a month on postcards - what can we do" I may end up spending a lot more than I wanted to, but get a lot better results than I ever have. It is worth talking to them.

Jeff, That is how I've planned our mailing campaigns over the last two years. We've sent around 80k pieces with okay-good results.

I know some have done much better, but we have averaged 1/4 of 1% on the ones we have sent. Some mailings being worse than that and a going as high as 1/3 of 1%. I really believe that the guys who do really great mass mailing have a lot of capital to back it up and consistently mail until people can't help but know who they are.

On our postcard mailings our cost this year was about 30-35% of the gross income brought in by the mailings. Thats too much for me when there are other ways to get it done...

I've talked to post card mania a few times and there prices have been higher than others. Maybe they are better. Im not sure though. I know you can send 8.5x11 post cards for around .32 each using the USPS EDDM with a mailing house to do the legwork for you.

Doing the math and projecting your returns looks great. I just wanted to share our experience with you, so you know that it is possible to average her projected worst case lol. Most guys I hear talking about it have done really great, so if you do it good luck!
