Pressure fluctuating and surging

Was cleaning concrete today and first noticed at the wand that the pressure was surging. I went over and watched the guage and it was surging between 3000 and 3500 psi with a pressure tip and the chem injector in line. When I took the injector out it didn't surge as much and eventually quit. Could this be engine related or pump related or either one I guess. How to narrow down the cause?

If it's engine related, the engine speed would fluctuate...is it?

It's possible that the orifice in the injector is partially blocked. Look through it and see if the hole is nice and round.

Rpm did seem to fluctuate just based on sound and my memory.

Any ideas where to start looking. It's a Honda gx620 I think and General pump.

Check the air filter and fuel filter first if you've got a variation in your rpms. It could also be an air leak or something, causing the load on the engine to lighten, allowing the rpms to increase slightly.

Well I finally got this solved. It was my unloader. I put on an old spare and it's okay. Engine was not surging. Here is what it was doing.....
