PVC Cement and Sodium Hypochlorite

My roof tank draw pipe has been a piece of threaded schedule 80 for the last several years. Took it apart to re-seal the threaded ends and while taking it apart it cracked,..well,..finding threaded schedule 80 in 2 ft. or more is impossible around here,...Lowes used to have it but they said they quit selling it due to lack of sales. Anyhow,..I used schedule 40 with a glued connection. The PVC cement I used was regular cement I think. Didn't consider it before,..but,...will this regular PVC cement hold up to strong SH? Anyone have any real World experience with it and SH? I think I needed something called "IPS 724" or "Weld-On 724"

Not a big deal to re-do,..but if I don't have to I wont.

Thanks,
Jeff

It is my understanding that PVC Cement essentially melts the PVC, welding the two pieces together. As long as the joint is glued all the way around, it should be fine. Also, never forget that PVC...whether schedule 40 or 80, is sensitive to UV light which eventually makes it brittle.

Thanks Kevin, I'm gonna go with what you said. Being immersed in roof strength SH over the course of a few years is ALOT of abuse,..even for PVC,..which is why it broke so easily when I tried to get it apart.
