Racing Plane Hits Pelican!

Anyone into airplanes? My dad's an airline pilot, I love aviation. Anyone catch the Red Bull Air Race in San Diego a couple months ago?? The Abu Dhabi plane hit a pelican while racing over San Diego Bay! Click on the middle pick to see the bird in pieces...:eek::crazy_pilot:

I definately want to! I love the aerobatic airplanes at the airshows.
 
I get to fly a 150 aerobat quite often. Would love a chance to get behind one of those bad boys though.....or maybe a Pitts.

Yeah Nick, I'd love to fly a Pitts too! My dad's friend in San Diego owns one. Maybe someday. Arent they single seaters?

Before my dad became an airline pilot he flew Learjets. I was lucky to go up with him once without any passengers. The co-pilot went and sat in the back, and my dad let my fly for a while. Lots of thrust!! But...I definately had the urge to whip it around more than I was able to. Guess thats why I like the aerobatic planes, especially after watching Wayne Handley & Patty Waggstaff do things that planes should not be able to do!!

If anyone is looking for a GREAT hobby that loves airplanes, get into remote control airplanes. The gas ones are so much fun. Most I've owned were at least as big as my kitchen table. Check out this video of an RC airplane...
