roof shampoo

Just read stuff on roof shampoo website about why not to use bleach and or chlorine.
A section describes the various methods
The section slamming no pressure roof cleaning goes on and on talking about how the "bleach" is so unhealthy especially for vegetation.
It then talks about a consumer reports article and has a "read more" link
Going to the link it has a consumer that talks about how she ends up going with the roof sham
but there is a note which says if plants are watered down and the bleach is applied correctly all will be fine.
Hell it has a picture of surface cleaner on the roof. How is low pressure going to even spin a surface cleaner enough to do much. Overkill it seems like.
I have learned the hard way on a lot of different ways to clean a roof.
No pressure is the way to go and after 9 or so roofs have not killed one flower.

Just my 2 cents

Thier whole website is so contradictory. They use scare tactics against bleach but neglect to tell you that they use a pressure washer to power thier"roof sprinkler". They also say that bleach is a temporary solution and your roof will get dirty again. But if you use thier annual service you'll be streak free for life. I could say the same for our treatment if we applied it every year.

You do know that when you mention them or their site you are helping them advertise, you did know that right?

Most of us that have been cleaning roofs for a while now don't want to promote competitor sites, especially if they do things different.

Just so you know, this site, PWI ranks very high amoung websites around the world so when you mention them, you are helping to promote them, especially in your back yard.

You don't want to help them do you?

It is ok to mention and talk about different methods but when you mention their name, you might as well take that happy meal off the table and take it to them in a matter of words.

Most of us like to clean roofs with no pressure and with our blend or custom blend of cleaning detergents without naming them so we don't educate our competitors so we don't buy a happy meal and hand deliver it to them if you know what I mean.

Another thing, when you start a thread with their name and say derogatory things about them, you are close to a legal situation as this is seen by people all over the planet, becomes permanent record, can be used in court and will help you get into legal issues in case you had no clue about this kind of thing. I would not do it myself as I don't like the idea of legal issues unless I am starting them against someone but that is just me I am sure.

Roof Poo Poo!!!

Roof Doo Doo.

The only good thing that they do is raise awareness about roof cleaining with all of their advertising. I will be glad to go up aganst them (and I have) armed with my ARMA bulletin and a basic explanation of the process we use vs. their high pressure sodium hydroxide bath, ultra foogazie cleaning process. ...it won't have streaks, it will have swirl marks from our surface cleaner..............

It is a shame that they sell this crap to people to start a roof cleaning business and they are extremely misinformed. It is not hard to beat them out..... their pricing in my market is on point too wihch makes it good.

They tell you why not to use chlorine. Roof manufacturers tell you to use chlorine. Roof Scampoo has videos of them using surface cleaners to remove the algae from the roof because their cleaner cant do it by itself? If the poo cant remove the goo then why buy it? Makes no sense. Chlorine used moderately with common sense is safe. The medical people say to add bleach to water during times of shortages when the water works is down and then its ok to drink it. We allow our children and Grand kids to swim in pools that contain chlorine? Whats more precious than the kids yet we are cool with it?

I just had a dental root canal done and they cleaned out the tooth with..............You guessed it! BLEACH!

I knew I knew that smell well. hahahahaha

Years ago after high school when I worked in fast food we used bleach to sanitize the cookware, they did not have the fancy sanitizers back then or the owners were too cheap.

Bleach is a good thing.

My folks, who are elderly and live 300 miles away got in touch with one of these outifts to do their roof. They called me and asked me about it, I told them to hold off on anything until I could get up there. They have some moss, aside from that the roof isn't that bad...they just live in the woods.

Their quote was $1500 for a roof that's about 22 square at most...as soon as I heard about that I looked it up online and saw the surface cleaner and the "no bleach" lines. I drove up there myself with 15 gallons of SH and a couple of pump sprayers and took care of it myself in a few hours. I had mom watering any runoff while I was on the roof.
