Rotella Single/Straight Grade W40 on Isuzu Diesel truck?

Here in FL u can get away with a straight 40wt because of the weather. It's just a heavy viscosity and should be fine, I use straight 30wt in my P/W down here but you may want to check with Isuzu? Shell Rotella is an awesome oil and has been in semi's for many years.

It may be better for your FL truck than those with a cold start rating. It should have less additives and may last longer...since it's free, you may not care if it lasts longer though...

I was told by a couple mechanics a long time ago that here (south Texas) in the summer it is better to use straight 30 weight in car engines and small engines so I am guessing that in the summer time in the south it might not be a bad idea but I would contact a mechanic that is familiar with that brand and get his opinion.

I friend of mine who is in the boats biz, gave me 3 5gal buckets Shell Rotella Straight grade w40 oil. I was wondering if this oil is good for 4HE1 Izuzu Diesel motors? I've always used Rotella 15-40. What's the difference between these two oils? Thanks!

Some Hi performance car guys use Rotella for motor breakin because it has additives that help lube up the hard parts (cam lobes etc.) It is designed for diesel motors and they are expected to be run for mega hundred thousands of miles. Car oil doesn't have the same additives. Multi weight oils just give you a broader temperature operating range. Its good stuff. The next best thing would be synthetic oils.
