what is the going rate for school buses in your area? With reclaim and without.

there was a thread on this a little while back but I don;t remember which board it was on. Try searching all the other boards as well as this one to see if you get the answer unless someone chimes in sooner

I just turned down a fleet that was getting them done for $9 monthly no reclaim. They wanted me to come close to matching it because the guy wasn't showing up often enough. At $9 I know why. No way.

how big was the fleet?

How many buses are you talking? How often? I have seen them as low as $8 with no reclaim. School distict/govt agencies are notoriously cheap. I think you would be fortunate to get $10 out of a district. Many of the larger ones have their own drive thru wash bays.

$7-$8 per bus here with no reclaim. Usually reclaim adds another $1 to $2 per piece as long as you don't have to move them. Country school buses are the worst because the dirt gets underneath the rails on the sides of the bus so it doesn't seem to matter how thorough you rinse them the mud seeps out after you walk away which usually leads to complaints. Good luck!

I hadn't thought about that. I am sure I would run into that problem here.

Well, it's not like they have a magic wand when they or someone else washes them either to prevent that from happening. It is likely that this potential customer already accepts that this will happen. It's definitely worth some discussion with them at the very least. If I were you I would try and throw a bid out there of $15 or so if they clean them at least once a month. The more they have them washed the less of a dirt build-up under those rails you will have to fight. Hey, who knows? Maybe you can talk them into going every two weeks, but I doubt it with the way that schools are tightening their belts...
