Setting up at at truck stop

Ok I was wondering if any of you have ever set up at a truck stop and washed rigs. Living in Oklahoma City we have several truck stops. If you have ever done this I would like to know what approach you took to do this. What you charged for washing. Was it just soap then rinse or what other methods you did. I'm thin king about doing this but would like to get input from others. Pros and cons. All information is appreciated.

I have a customer who used to do this, he would pay the truck stop a flat rate per day and set up his rig and wash. He would do everything but wash outs since they did those in house. You can make money at it just price according to the job they want. Soap and rinse $xx brush $xx Acid wash $xx. He used to post his prices on a board by his trailer and let the truckers decide.

The thing you have to watch is the environmental aspect and where you wash. If you have an easy way to collect the water you are set. Even better if they let you discharge on site. If the location is busy and has a restaurant you can do very well, just be there consistently and do a good job. You will be surprised at how many "regular" you end up with.

I have found that owner operators feel they are getting ripped off if they see you aren't brushing the truck. If they are going to stand there and watch you will save yourself some headache by brushing. Even if you are just going through the motion. If they don't see you brush they tend to pick it appart. I tried seting up at the local pilot. I didn't have much luck but I havnt given up on the idea

I have thought about that but there are not any truck stops close by.

If there was one, I would look into it.

so how did it go??

I've often contemplated this myself, but was always too worried about environmental issues concerning the run off, etc. Am I worried for nothing? Short of meeting and coming to an agreement (regarding run off, dumping waste water, etc.) what could be done? Do you have to reclaim? What about in a gravel lot or an area where there are no catch basins? We currently take care of several fleets of semi's but the trucking companies have the resources already in place and isn't an issue for us. But just setting up somewhere (with permission or clearance of course) has always concerned me.
