Surface Cleaner Rebuild and Conversion

Today, I added a few new items to each of my surface cleaners -- a Christmas present to my team:

My 5 year old BE model had it's second BE swivel fail this past week. Rather than changing it out with a new BE swivel, I converted it to a Mosmatic swivel and bar and then added 4 new castor wheels. The balanced spray bar should make for smooth running compared to the old 'homemade" BE bar.

My 2 year old Steel Eagle had the rear end, axle and both 10" wheels changed out along with a new front castor wheel. I also changed out the old "homemade" type swivel bar to the new balanced version that they use now which should run a lot smoother with less vibration.

Can't wait to get back to work next week as it will feel like using brand new equipment. I will follow up to report how the conversions compare to the old setups. Happy New Year guys!!

Nice. Why not upgrade to 3 or 4 nozzle spray bars? It works way better!

I would have a difficult time believing that a 3 or 4 nozzle spray bar would clean better that a 2 nozzle bar. I mean, right now I only get 2.8 gpm out of each nozzle (5.6 gpm pump /2). Going to a 3 nozzle bar reduces it to 1.87 gpm out of each nozzle and a 4 nozzle bar reduces it to 1.40 gpm out of each nozzle. For each added nozzle it reduces the impact each nozzle has on the concrete. Even though more nozzles mean you hit the concrete more times, it is will less impact.

This is why I am so looking forward to converting to 8 gpm units this spring as my surface cleaners will then be hitting concrete at 4.0 gpm from each nozzle on a 2 nozzle bar--major impact improvement providing a better deeper clean!! Or am I overthinking this...guys what are your opinions on this?

Oh. I guess I assumed you were using 8 GPM because of the size of the surface cleaners. It looks like at least the BE is 24". I use 8 GPM, and when I switched from 2 nozzles to 3 nozzles, I noticed a huge improvement in cleaning speed without sacrificing quality of clean.
