Surface cleaner

We were cleaning some nasty looking mildew covered brick sidewalks today with the surface cleaner I built. We had to go over it 2 times to get it clean. My main helper (only), my son was working and came up with a good idea. Would it be possible to put another 2 nozzles on it and put them in line with the other 2. I thought it might work by putting a tee in the middle and put the tips there. I have a 5 gpm 3000 psi machine. If this would work what size tips would I need?

Hello Lenny,
What your talking about would not be hard to do, But i don't think there would be much benefit from it. With a 5 gpm machine you are probably running two 1503s on the unit now. To go to four nozzels you would have to use four 15015 nozzels to retain the high pressure. These nozzels are extreemly small and would be subject to constant plugging by the smallest of debris. The overall cleaning effect should still be about the same as before.

A two nozzel surface cleaner will be your best bet for a 5 gpm machine.
See ya,
Rick

That is not what I would reccomend.
I would balance the arms and adjust the angle of the spray tips.

The arms spin like a fan and if they are not balanced they will wobble. A tire on your car that is not ballanced bounces around and so will your twister if it is not balanced.

To balance the arms you have to hang the Tee with the arms attached from a string upside down and use a level on both sides. If it tilts one way you have to grind some metal off of the heavy end until they are both even and level. This will stop the vibration and make it stop streaking. The bearings will last 4 times longer in the swivel as well. To adjust the angle use the one of the tools I posted on my website.

Wiz,
A small engine friend of mine uses a similar method for lawn mower blades.

He has nail driven horizonly level into a wall.

The wall has a level horizonal line marked on it.

He places the blade on the nail and than slightly grinds down one or both sides.

When the blade lines up with the line it is balanced.

I never thought of a line on the wall. I think I will use that one!

Lenny,
You might try a little longer dwell time on you chems.

You might also try largerer over laps or just walking a little slower.

We cleaned some terrible bird mess covered walks yesterday morning. We used above mentioned ideas with great results.

How is that surface cleaner holding up?

And now this is normal, everyone has 4 nozzle spray bars... I know it's a old post but I thought this was funny
