Hi guys. Thanks for all the great information provided on here for novice washers like myself. I received a call this morning to quote 3 train engines. It is for a smaller train station in the area. I was curious to see if anyone has done many of these and if so how much is the going rate. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Figure time and materials that is he best way to bid the job. Each is different and may take longer for you than me of vice versa.

They are not much different than doing a generator engine just a bit larger. Space is confined so plan on getting wet.

Generators and locos are indeed very much alike, here is a pic of cleaning 16 cyl gen set. The areas are tight so plan on using a small wand.

As well increase your hourly $$ by at least 50% due to the increased exposure to liability.

I know a few people that do train engines and trains in general. The ones they do are very difficult to clean due to the fact that the train engine never shuts off, making the engine and surrounding metal very hot. This causes all of the soot from the deisel to stick like glue to the surface. Maybe try a sample first?
