Used veggie oil

Does anyone know where to get containers to hold used veggie oil? An IBC would not work as it would melt when hot oil is put into it.

Anyone know? Or does anyone know what they are called?

That would be a great conversation peice for you to show you co. is one step closer to "going green" + It will probably smell like fries n tacos instead of deisel. What would it take for a burner to run on it?

looking into that as well. Tom, Thank you for the links. I have looked into this in depth - still a lot more research to do!! The reason I am asking specifically about the holding tanks is I have had a few restaurants tell me I can have it all but the current tank would go back to the company that owns it. I just dont know what to search for to find them.

Metal 55gallon drums with a funnel screwed into the 2" bung.Be sure to get a wide mouth funnel and put a scrren filter in it.
If this is for a Ford power stroke look into a veggie stroke conversion.

Johathan, I have a few restaurants which give me wvo. I pick it up in 30 gal plastic drums ( easy to move). Transfer it to 275 cube ( from craigslist 100.00 ). Process in 2 different steel 55 gallon metal barrels. After cleaning, blend 50/50 with diesel and run in my powerstroke. varoom varoom.

That is great if you can get the used oil, should only cost you about $1.25 per gallon to make it and most of the chemicals you will need are available at most chemical wholesalers.

Most of the restaurants around here have contracts with Griffin and the other 2 companies out there that pick up the oil.

The few that I talked to wanted a large tank like what Griffin supplies so it can't be tipped over easily like the drums can, it is their company policy after some people were tipping the drums over and the collection companhy had to take care of cleaning up the mess.

I am still interested if I can find some restaurants to give me the oil or sell it cheaply but so far no luck, maybe later on.

It works very well in a burner and has almost NO smoke. Only down side I have seen is that the burner will run a little longer to get up to heat but once it is there it runs very very clean.

Is that with no conversion kits? Just put the uvo directly into the tank?

You need to filter it to 5 microns and remove the water. If you running a 50/50 mix your fine there like Micheal spoke of. If running pure WVO there are modifications you'll need to make to your diesel truck.

And like mentioned before go with the Vegistroke....good unit.

55 gallon metal drums they use to put the waste greaseWorks well, the drum you leave at the restaurant bring a 300 gal. tank with you and a pump to pump into the tank and there you go you are collecting free cooking grease good luck and way to go_Oh one more add on i noticed they put a sticker on the drum stating the grease in unedible and so on.

YES we made NO changes at all in the unit other than to change the fuel filter when we started to monitor how much debris we would get. we had less debris and a cleaner burner after 100 hours than the diesel by far. We also ran this in the winter and other than add a bit more gas ( yes gas) to thin it out due to temp it ran great down to 21 degrees on the coldest nights.

Also I used this system for the diesel

Alexy, what do you do for filtering before it goes onto your rig?

Only problem in using the Diesel secrets, is in their blend. They use 5% rug. Regular unleaded gas should not be used in a diesel engine. It will coke the injectors badly. Gas IC engines fire from spark, diesel IC engines fire from combustion. Coking will cause extensive carbon buildup in the rings which will cause compression loss, which leads to contaminated oil which leads to engine failure. So dont add rug to diesel blends, bad juju. Also their proprietary ingredient is probably just Stabil fuel additive. Stabil will encapsulate water particles and they will pass thru the system. What Alex says about wvo in the burner is good, adding rug to it is ok because it is a pressurized fuel and forced air burned and not ic.

How hot do u want to get the oil?

Any bare metal touching VO will polymerize, and turn into a mess.
(thats why you cant leave VO in a cold engine)
You can use a 55 gal drum...but it must have a coating on the inside that can take the heat.
I use these with a heater wraps and they work (theyre coated)

Poly that "formed" on a 7.3 injector

Aluminum is best...but not cheap..I know someone who has a big 100 gallon round tank off a semi hed sell for 100 but Im in FL....Maybe you could find something similar in your area...
and .......Diesel secret is a scam...IMO not a good idea

Im a vegistroke guy myself....my name is the same on the DFA forum.....

I dunno about "advertising" the fact too much to try to get an edge buisneswise though, like I think I saw mentioned....VO is for burning when your off-road only....remember? :secret:
