Watch My GPS Tracking Device Find Stolen Equipment

Sorry to hear and at the same time, awesome Arrie! (In the sense on putting gps on your trailers.)
Gps seems to be the most effective way to add security to a trailer.

I hope the police fully caught up with them.. Frustrating and scary to think about all the theft that goes on.

There were many people at the place where we found the equipment so the poluce could not immediately arrest anyone. But my customer has someone that can be clearly identified on their surveillance video and sent it to the detective in charge. They actually saw the guy on the video but he left before the police arrived

The unit itself looks a little too big to me Arrie. I would be interested if it was smaller, had a way to mount behind the control panel of a Hydrotek and also had a tamper proof system on it meaning if someone tried to mess with it other than a authorized rep that it would fry the rest of the components in the control panel making the machine useless.

It would be nice to mount something like that where it will have power but also not seen in case the rig was stolen.

If something like that was easy to see or find then it will be easy to remove, break with a hammer or cut wires going to it, either way it needs to be small enough to hide but line of sight to the sky might be hard to do when you are trying to hide it, not sure if it would work through metal like if you put it in the air cleaner cover or under the cover of the battery box.

Chris, believe me brother, my mechanics put it where it is not easy to find. Under the engine, bolted to the skid plate. These were professional theivesthe wires were intertwined with the power cable and was wired to the engine. I had trouble trying to find it. But this particular customer had a very liited service package. Had he allowed me to put in movement alerts. A call and a text would go to him when ever the unit is moved. From this moment forward, that will be in the minimum package.

Vince, the unit is not big at all. But instead of frying your components and rendering your machine useless, we can add movement alerts allowing the unit to send you alerts whenever it moved. We could set the alert times to after hours or during the times that you are usually down.

Arrie does that run off a battery?

It is connected to the battery on the skid. The unit in the video was actually connected to the engine. The device has a KILL command and will tell you if the unit is on or off. It has its own internal power supply which lasts about 4 to 5 days if disconnected from the power source. That is how I know they destroyed it when they found it.

I have a question that maybe some others are wondering also. What is the recovery rate for units stolen with your device mounted to it?
That was the first one stolen from one of my customers so I'd say 1 for 1.
