What equipment to buy?

So I've been pressure washing for 8 years or so on the side (5-10) houses a year. My Honda GX390 North Star is ancient I spend $100-$150 every spring to just get it running.

My question is since its a side job that's pretty up and down I didn't want to invest in something crazy expensive. Can a decent pressure washer be purchased for $600 or less? Any advice at all would be great! Thanks

Probably on Craigslist around December 22nd would be where you'd get a decent one for that price, even northstars 5gpm direct drive is 1300

Thanks for the info! Yeah I'm torn on what to do. The repair company wants to try a new carb seals and such and new oil change.

Is it hard to build one?

Buy a frame, pump, and engine. Mount engine to frame. Slide pump on engine shaft. Bolt pump to engine. Make $$$. That's direct drive. Takes a little common sense and patience on your 1st try. I don't think I'm missing any steps...

Just buy a commercial machine from one of the vendors on this site an then spend your time an energy on a good website an marketing ideas.

Powerwashstore has a 5.6 gpm, 2500 psi, General pump, Honda GX390 with chemical Injector, bypass and thermal sensor for $1200. It will clean fast and hold up. Take care of it by flushing with clean water after every job, changing fluids and winterize it properly and it will last years.

Don't see quite that deal on their site... got a link? ;)

E-mail them and ask for 5.6gpm with 2500 psi and General Pump. That's how I got mine. I don't know how the water pressure is by you but you might want a 4.0 gpm. I have one as a back up because some of the towns with wells don't provide enough pressure. They have a 4.0 with 3500 PSI which will do a little better with concrete cleaning.
