Thanks Chris. I plan to upgrade to air driven once things pick up. Just trying to start up with as low overhead as possible. Quick questions town houses are very popular around. What do you recommend with them? Doubling up the surficant? And also to rinse or not to rinse? And if rinsing what should the dwell time be?

Thanks Doug I will check that out

THANKS. I will look into to that.

Also. Rinse or not?

And what to do with very steep roof like townhouses?

Tile OR Shingle, gutters or not, and if so, where do the gutter downspouts drain into ?
My friend Doug Rucker gave you some very good advice, for a pump system BTW.

The townhouses around here are either shakes or tile with no gutters. And yeah Doug did, I thanked him in a earlier post. I really appreciate every ones tips.

Is there like a general guide line with rinsing. Depending on the type of roof, Slope, Gutters?

To rinse, or not to rinse, seems to be the magic question. It is true that the Chlorine evaporates, once it dries, but it still leaves Salt behind. It seems that if you get a drenching rain of decent duration (15 minutes plus), you are home free. There will be sufficient water to dilute the salt run off, and render it harmless. But, sometimes we get a 1/2 assed rain that don't last long. When that happens, the salt is rinsed off the roof, but then there is not enough water to rinse the salt really good, and prevent plant damage.
AC and I once talked about this, when he was still out cleaning roofs for a living. It seems we both came up with a "solution", independent of each other. Both myself and AC rinsed part of the roof only, like the bottom 1/3 of the roof, but only if there were delicate plants down below, in the drip line. It also seems to be that the longer it takes to rain after you clean a roof, the less plant damage there is. My thoughts on this are, the longer the dried out Chlorine stays up there, the more chance the wind has to dissipate the salt particles. The most horrible thing that can happen to a roof cleaner is to clean the roof, and then it rains a 1/2 ass rain shortly after you leave!

OK. Thanks. When you rinsed off the bottom third how much time did you wait for the mix to dwell?

15 or 20 minutes, to insure a complete KILL of the algae.

Ok. Thanks alot Chris. So is the main reason for not rinsing just the extra cost in labor?
