What's Up With Chevron?

There are several stores here that not only request the ID, but they scan it. I don't spend much time perusing infowars or anything like that, but scanning it is a bit much in my opinion. I don't shop there simply on principle.

Why not just show the clerk your ID?

Charlie, Charlie, Charlie................

How about we send a a scan of our drivers license to post on PWI?

The absolute stupidity of such a policy is enough for me not to shop there.

One of our Chevrons here would not let Shelly buy a beer without ID. I called around and found that their policy is to ask everyone for ID. So I wrote two letters informing them of my opinion of the IQ of the moron who made that policy and have not heard back from them. Combine that with their local policy of putting a $100 initial hit on your credit card for a gas transaction and for those reasons we haven't been to a Chevron in over a year.

On the other end of the spectrum Smith's grocery store would not sell alcohol to Chris because Jill (20 at the time) was in line with him at the checkout. They asked for both ID's even though Chris was paying for it and they had a cart half full of other stuff. I went down to the store in person and very quickly received an apology from the manager and assurance that it would never happen again and it hasn't.

Even better, Walmart demanded ID from me to buy alcohol. I refused. It was absolutely absurd for anyone to think that I am under 21. I held the entire line up for over 40 minutes till they got someone there with some sense. Of course everyone was mad at me, but I'm sure people were mad at the patriots too for all the loud noise the revolution caused outside their cowardly abode.

A manager explained to me that they would educate the employee on when to ask for ID, but they didn't want to reprimand the employee because they were following instructions as they understood them. He gave me his personal cell number and said if I ever had anyone else ask me for ID to call him and he would make sure it is taken care of immediately. I've never had a problem since.

Charlie, this is why we lose our privacy and our freedoms. One inch at a time. I know Chevron and Walmart are not the government and yes, I believe they have the right to run their business however they wish. But each time we allow these guys to make stupid rules like this with no consequences it makes us more likely to surrender other freedoms, like the ability to travel without fear (checkpoints), the ability to protect our families......even from THEM (gun registration), and the list goes on and on.

Chevron has lost thousands of our fuel business for stupidity. It's their right. And it's my right to protest it and not shop there.

Don't be a sheep and let them take rights away with stupid policies. Even if it means standing in line 40 minutes till someone with common sense comes along. (Don't waste your time at Chevron, they have no one with common sense) lol

Little by little.......

This was a nice little test to see what Americans would put up with. Ironically it fell during the same week that over 200 years ago saw Boston residents take up arms and blast the authorities back to England.

This is what happens when people give up a little privacy here and a little privacy there. (Like to see them try that in Nevada or Montana.)

The year is 1775. Unrest has been growing in the colonies. The Boston Massacre that took place just five years earlier is fresh in the memories of many. The protests regarding taxation reached a new height in the form of the Boston Tea Party. Colonists are clamoring for the right to run their own affairs, some going as far as to call for independence from the mother country. The stage is set for an historic conflict.

The Crown decides to put a stop to this. Early in the morning of April 19, 1775, a long column of Regulars starts its march to Concord. Their orders are to destroy muskets, powder, cannon, and other provisions being stockpiled by the rebels on Colonel James Barrett's farm.

The column approaches Lexington as dawn rises to find the militia formed up on the town green. Their goal is not to engage the troops, but to show defiance to the Crown. The British officers are indignant at their risky move and order them to lay down their arms and disperse. Most men disperse. Some do not hear the order and stand fast. None lay down their arms. Suddenly a shot rings out, discipline breaks down, and more shots are fired. When the smoke clears, two militiamen are found shot dead, several more are wounded. The column marches on to Concord.

A few hours later, the Regulars enter Concord. A detachment is sent to secure the North Bridge. The militia had already formed up on the far side of the Bridge, consisting of men not just from Concord, but many nearby towns who had come to defend their homes and lives. Smoke rises from the center of Concord. The militia believes the Regulars are out to burn down the town. The order comes to load their muskets. The men advance towards the Bridge in fine order to the astonishment of the Regulars. The rebels were advancing on the British army! Retreating off the Bridge, the Regulars form into firing positions. As in Lexington, a shot rings out. The Regulars fire. Militiamen fall but they continue their advance. Then the order is given to the militia: "Fire, fellow soldiers, for God's sake fire!". The American Revolution has begun.

Show your id our shop somewhere else. Don'ttake it out on the poor guy running the register.

While that sound mighty nice and pious, the guy at the register deserves to know how stupid his employer is. He's relying on that moron to supply him with a paycheck. When he gets laid off or can't get a raise he deserves to know that it isn't his fault, it's the fault of the moron he chose to work for.

Your post said that you had unkind things to say to the clerk. On a different note. What is a Chevron? Convenience store?

No, wouldn't ever throw anything personally at her. It's not her fault, like most people she's just working for the man. Who in this instance happens to be a real Bozo.

Chevron used to be Standard Oil of Cali. They're huge out here in the west. Biggest in Oregon, followed by Shell then Arco.

Yeah just a gas station , nothing special for sure.

They have some awkward rules at the place. I would say they are much more corporate than others.

I choose to go to another store that's much better. They card people also, I never buy anything that requires my age. Sometimes when I use a credit card they ask. I just cough it up.

Something happened with a consumer in the past. A kid bought cigs they got busted and now they went over board. I get it!!!!

I can't nor will I make this a issue it's there business and you have the right to shop elsewhere. If it bothered me exercise the right to speak up about it. How will they change if consumer don't give feedback.

If the guy at the register doesn't already know how stupid his employer is because of the types of rules he has to follow then the guy at the register is A MORON TOO! Just in my opinion.

10,000!

Maybe it's time for a national discussion regarding background checks before you can purchase a pressure cooker. Possibly require a concealed weapons permit if you intend to store it inside your kitchen cabinets? Enforcement by the Grease Police!

When Pressure Cookers Are Illegal Only Crookers Will Have Cookers!

I won't buy gas from them anyway now.

Well, maybe if more people would give Them Gas they'd change their stupid policy and fire the absolute moron that dreamed it up. I wonder who he is - maybe George Costanza?
