Customer asked for an estimate to clean his deck its composite just dirty also has algae and mildew on the railings. Trying to get a ballpark figure before I price it. Approx 500 SQFt. I was thinking somewhere in the range of .25 to .30 a sq ft. Any suggestions.

Only you know your bottom line. It doesn't look that bad. How fast can you get this done? Does the customer warrant a discount for other services provided? Will they be a repeat customer?

Have you completed a job like this? If not the work (pictures) are sometimes worth more than the money. Plus with a deck like that they probably have parties, leave them flyers and turn your customers into your workers.

One more thing its composite (Not Cheap). So I would think they had a little money to spend on keeping it clean.

also be aware that there is a lawsuit payout happening now for owners of trex deck. It has to do with the mold not coming out of the decking. http://www.compositedeckingsettlement.com/

Thanks again John!...I remember reading something about the lawsuit against Trex (composite decks). I will make mention of this to the homeowner. If presented in a constructive manner, I hope it comes across as informative and looking out for their best interest, not a scare tactic.

letting them know will cover your a@@ when you cant get all the little mold spots out.

It's a different market there, but I would charge $.75 per sqf and sell it as a restoration job, not washing. Do a demo and blow them away....Oh, show them a settlement too and cover your butt.
