Insurance

I use State Farm. They have handled all my insurance for years. I have $1M in general liability insurance for about $135/month.

I use Travelers for general liability and to cover my equipment. I use State Farm for auto, and The hartford for workmans comp.

I have had good experiences with Joe Walters agency. Had a claim for theft earlier this year and they were very easy to deal with. And best of all, they didn't raise my rates when I renewed.

I also use Joe for Gen Liability. I have never had to make a claim but I have no complaints.

Insurance cost,

Let sum this up, local is going to be better. Most important thing is that the broker be a commercial broker. This means the brokers business is mainly insuring businesses and that he is set up properly to do. I have been in business 18 plus years now and have had three different insurance agents. The last two where the same company and the only difference was one guy is set up to handle businesses and the other was only interested in auto, life, and home.

I have gotten quotes from many different agencies and the differences have been from 650.00 to 2200.00.

Hear are a couple variables that will make the insurance cost more.

1. how many years in business
2. locations of business
3. What types of pressure washing you do.
4. are you one the ground
5. gross dollars per year
6. The age of your drivers and there track records.
7. your personal track record with any insurance company’s(claims paid)

I sure some are not here if you would like to add please feel free.

I agree with Ron when I switched from American family to my current agent my insurance dropped about 40%. I had my home and everything with AF so I thought I was getting a good rate. The commercial agents have no real loyaltys and deal with several different providers so they will shop it around to find you the best rate.

I use AIG..I actually got them to make the endoresment say "Commercial Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning" runs 1250 a year.

Ya AF really scr***d me over with my business insurance, left me scrambling to find some new coverage a few years back. They just called me one day and said we decided we are not going to insure one of your trucks anymore, we think it is too big, oh and we are going to raise your rates for no reason. Well mabye because you have one less vehicle with us now so you don't "qualify" for the discount rate. But hey keep all your other stuff with us anyway.

State Farm for commercial auto, Western World for pressure washing GL, Liberty Mutual for WC and Penn America for overlay GL. I think I write a stinkin insurance check every week!

Celeste

I still haven't figured out why overlay insurance would be more than PW insurance, Celest.

Me either.....I think they lump us in with all kinds of concrete work.

Celeste

Westbend mutual for business and country for auto.

Matt

Try Erie they can classify pressure washing as janitorial as long as you are not doing wood. (they don't like that stuff apparently) Since we do just restaurant hoods they were real happy to write the policy. I can add up to 6 loss payees ( needed for shopping centers and malls) for no charge

General Casualty, and Cincinatti have given me the best rates, I keep switching back and forth for some reason every couple years they get in a bidding war. I have General Casualty now and I think my 2mil umbrella is only an extra 1000 bucks or so over my 1mil genliability. Total building and liability is less than 2500 a year.

Has anybody been asked for a 2 million Dollar Liabilty policies? Target is now asking for a 2 mill each occerance.
