Downstreamers for pressure washing and KEC

Ron,
Thanks for fixing the signature.

Al,
We use 12% Sodium Hypochlorite and then cut it in half with water to make bleach(6%). You could by bleach from the store but I find this eliminates alot of empty bottles taking up space in our land fill.

We then downstream it and I'd guess the dilution rate is somewhere between 20.1 to0 15.1 water to bleach.

We apply it hot, around 160 degrees at the gun from the bottom up and let it sit for about 3-5 minutes. This will take care of all green mold and mildew.

We apply soap if necessary to remove asphalt stains from roof drips and clean the gutter exteriors then rinse with fresh water.

We use a dual nozzle holder on an extension wand modified as noted in the post above.

Average two story colonial uses about 3 gallons bleach (diltued 20.1) 1 1/2 gallon soap (diluted 40.1) and roughly 500 gallons water to rinse.

I've never had a problem with plants, windows, streaking or anything with this method and I think it is the most environmentaly responsible way to do the job and still get perfect results.

I read here the some guys x jet 12% onto siding, I guess if you rinse for 3-4 hours you'd get the same dilution ratios but I don't think that's the case and I know it is not necessary to apply that strong of a soulution to get the job done.

I have always x-jetted but the DS posts peak my curiosity. I did buy a .040 hose barb last year just to see how well and high it would shoot. I've held off from DS because I am not sure how to set my mix up with one. My SH usually hits the house at around 3%. If I pull from straight 12.5% with a 20% injector I am down to 2.5%. That may work but I also use another cleaner that I mix at 1/2 gallon per 5gal x-jet pail. How could I get enough of that in a DS mix without diluting the SH too much? Most homes around here are on acre plus lots and I usually run at least 200 feet of hose also. I would love to ditch the bucket just don't know enough to feel confident about it yet.

When I DS a house I mix 4 gallons of 12.5%, 2 scoops of Bobs simple cherry, and a gallon of water. I get great results. If you have a good soap mixed with your SH you do not need to mix as strong. The surfactants in SC give it a little extra cling and it rinses very nicely. if you check out my website under the house washing page you can see 8 month old egg cleaned off of wood siding with the above mix. It is very gentle and effective.

I do not have any pics of my DS injector, but I will tell you that I have mine connected just before the swivel on my hose reel. My chems sit right behind the reel and I just drop the suction hose in the bucket.

Well done Scott! You should be Ron's big winner. Many guys will get some use out of the video you have provided. I for one run my downstreamer at the hose reel and it has worked well for me. Take care! Hugh

Great video Scott!

I have a question. I have 200' of hose on a summit hose reel. Is it better to hook up the d/s injector to the coil or the hose reel. I've heard the hose reel but does it matter? I have a Robokim D/S now and will be changing it to the super sud sucker whenever it arrives.

I did a video too but it is too big for Youtube. I love my HD camera but the files it produces are HUGE. I need to do another with my lesser quality camera I guess.

I love your video, "DS'ing is so easy, even a ball valve could do it" :D You have given me sound advice before and I remember some of what you told me, but I wasn't to into ds'ing at the time. Did you by chance record our conversation so I can go back and listen to it again :p

I am pretty sure that you can put more on google video, haven't used it yet though.

Right click on the file and chose "open with". Unless its a Quicktime file, it should give you the option to open it with Windows Movie Maker. Chose that then drag your movie to the timeline. Click on file/save file/to computer then chose your size. It will compress the movie down to whatever size you want. Remember that the small you make it, the lower the quality.

If you have Quicktime files you will need to get Quicktime Pro (about $30) in order to convert them easily to avi (windows Audio Video Interleave) files. then you can follow the instructions above.

It sounds like a lot but once you get the hang of it it actually goes pretty quick.
