Pulling Water from a Hydrant

Sounds like the guy I bought my rig from. Is he out of Pearland/Manvel?

Yep. We know him pretty well. We got some of our hoses from him, and alot of advise about the trailer setup. Nice guy.

This is how it works here.

1.) Buy or Rent a Water Meter - You can rent one from the water district usually.

2.) Have it calibrated

3.) Make sure you have all the correct attachments, backflow junk and all.

4.) Pay ridiculous fee's to use your meter $2500 for the first year, $250 a year after

5.) Use the meter in the correct district, take it back to the district, have it read and pay for what you used.

Now, dont forget to go back and have it read before you start a new job... you dont want to pay for water twice....Ugh

Try an do all your work on a Sunday......no county worker in ANY county works on a Sunday!
So, you're saying theft is OK.
The main reason the utility companies don't like people messing with the hydrants is if the valve "unseats" itself and the locking mechanism unscrews while you are turning off your water you can't fix it. THEY CAN. I know - first hand. I was told I could move the meters. The girls in the water office shouldn't have said so, the supervisor had a cow. All our meters were going to get pulled. Luckily he calmed down.

I don't want to scare anyone but we just had two kids caught near here on a city water tower trying to tag it.One of them opened the top and the cops arrested them for tampering with a municipal water supply (FELONY OFFENSE)
they had to pay for all 750,000 gals of water in the tank and the disinfection of it too.plus they went to jail.

After 911 the Government takes messing with the cities drinking water pretty serious.Thats why they want to know who is messing with their hydrants.
