2500 PSI on concrete?

I know a guy around here (He is actually on PWI sometimes) who bought a 5.5 GPM 3500 PSI for residential cleaning, and ended up putting 2500 PSI nozzles in his surface cleaner anyway. 3500 PSI is too much for residential concrete. I am getting by just fine with 7 GPM and about 2000 PSI. Go with the 2500 PSI machine IF you are only doing residential. It will save you not only that initial investment, but probably a couple grand worth of gas per year.

I have posted this pic many places to prove this point, but I guess I'll keep posting it. Here is concrete cleaned with 7 GPM 2000 PSI, and pretreating with bleach and caustic downstreamed.

Should I worry about the pressure drop running at 2500? Will it still be enough for res driveways, etc.?

No worries. Use as little hose as you can, and disconnect the downstream injector when you're not using it, but you will be fine. I was using 200 feet of hose when I cleaned the driveway in those pics. You will be fine for residential.

Can 2500 PSI work w/ commercial if I use EBC with it?

How much should I charge for a house wash????? Too vague of a question... I'm sure the answere is somewhere in the realm of "it depends". a housewash isnt a housewash... commercial isnt commercial
 
If i have a 3500psi machine and want to lower the pressure for my surface cleaner to like 2500 (or whatever number), would it be acceptable to use a ball valve at the end of my hose with a gauge to choke down the pressure? Should I also switch out the nozzle tips on the surface cleaner bar?
 
James - If you are using the correct nozzles, there shouldbe only 1750 psi at the most from each nozzle with your 3500 psi machine. Does your surface cleaner have a height adjestment? I would go the nozzle or height method instead of the ball valve. With the ball valve, you will loose too much water flow.
 
#2.5's will get you 2600-3100psi and #3 nozzles will get you 1800-2100 psi. Assuming you are running 4 gpm. Yo can't get to 2500 without having a half step in there which means two different size nozzles. I always go lower and up the strength of the mix. Don't use ball valve to choke flow. Bad on the pump and unloader and you lose flow which you are already at the low end limit with 4 gpm.
