aluminum siding

Why does aluminum siding have some spots that look dirty but after you clean it, it is not dirt but a discoloration of some sort. Its hard to see when you give a est. what is dirt and what is discoloration from aluminum oxidation I guess. What should I tell my customer when this happends again, Or should I say before this happends again.

I always warn customers with aluminum siding about potential problems. If the siding is oxidizing so much, it is most likely old and ready to paint...though I have recently come across some 2-3 yr old townhomes with cheap aluminum trim where the color literally washes off.

i sell alum. wash jobs as "paint prep" and IF it comes out without needing paint then all the more better.
